Dear Amanda,

Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that you have been selected to participate in the 2019 Developing Future
Biologists (DFB) short course. The course will be held at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor from May 19 - 24, 2019.
The course begins on Sunday, May 19 at 3:00pm, and the program concludes on the evening of Friday, May 24.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided throughout the course. If you require lodging and transportation, we will
arrange it.

If you are still interested in attending the short course, please confirm by Friday, April 12 by 6pm and include the
following information:

A) Any dietary restrictions

B) For booking flights, provide your first name, middle initial, and last name (exactly how it appears on your ID). Also your
date of birth and prefix (Mr., Ms., Miss, etc.). Please note, due to flight schedules, we may need to fly you to Ann Arbor on
Saturday, May 18. We will also attempt to fly other students in your area on the same flight, so we appreciate your
flexibility.

C) Your full mailing address (street, city, state, zip code) in case of reimbursement needs. If you end up needing a
reimbursement, be aware we will need your social security number at the course. (**do NOT provide your SSN through
email**)

D) A photo of yourself for the roster

E) Your preferred gender pronouns

F) Emergency contact information (name, phone number, your relationship to that person)

G) How did you find out about the course (i.e. name of professor at name of your school, Facebook, friend that
participated in past DFB courses, etc.)?

If you are unable to attend the course, please notify us as soon as possible so we can try to fill the spot. And if you
have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

We hope you can join us!

Hello Barbara.

Thank you for this amazing opportunity. I would love to be part of this experience, but I was accepted for a research
internship at Virginia and I should arrive there on May 24. It would be very difficult to do so in a very limited period of time.
Even so, thank you so much for giving me the opportunity and hope you find an excellent candidate to be part of this
experience. I really would have loved to participate in this course in Michigan Ann-Harbor.

Best,

Amanda Acosta
