Ethics and Safeguarding Reminder

For DAI employees

DAI is committed to conducting business in compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, and in
accordance with the highest standards, as enunciated in our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics. With the New
Year upon us, we take this opportunity to remind our colleagues of the importance of adhering to these standards and
meeting our responsibilities as global citizens. Here are some principles to keep in mind this year:

1 ANTI-CORRUPTION. Avoid any activity that would breach the anti-corruption and anti-bribery laws of the
United Kingdom, United States, and the European Union; local laws; or international standards of best practice.
No employee of DAI, its subcontractors, grantees, or agents may make or receive a bribe, facilitation payment,
gratuity, or kickback.

2 PLAY FAIR. In our procurements, DAI promotes fair competition to ensure we obtain the best value in
implementing our projects. You must inform DAI of any financial interests or family relationships that may bias
your professional judgment. Disclosing these relationships permits DAI to mitigate potential bias or favoritism.
Refrain from seeking non-public, procurement-sensitive information.

3 EXERCISE GOOD JUDGMENT. If giving or receiving gifts and entertainment, avoid creating an improper
advantage. DAI employees are prohibited from receiving gifts or favors of more than nominal value and from
receiving extravagant or frequent entertainment from individuals, firms, or organizations that do business or
seek to do business with us. Please assure safeguards are in place to ensure interactions with government
officials comply with applicable anti-corruption laws and DAI’s standards.

4 PROTECT PERSONAL AND SENSITIVE INFORMATION. DAI’s privacy policy sets out how and why
personal data and information is collected, as well as the rights of the data subject. We must comply with
standards of protection in accordance with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and any
additional standards imposed by local law or statute. DAI also expects that information generated or obtained in
the performance of its activities will be protected from disclosure to outside parties unless authorized by DAI.

5 BEWARE OF CYBERSECURITY ISSUES. Take appropriate steps to protect IT systems from cybersecurity
threats. These threats constantly evolve, requiring you to maintain data protection and cybersecurity measures
based on professional guidance and best practices. Data breaches and cybersecurity attacks must be brought
to DAI’s attention as soon as possible.

6 KNOW WHO WE ARE WORKING WITH by conducting careful due diligence in checking references of
employment candidates and consultants to assure they are trustworthy, capable, and able to perform and act
in accordance with DAI’s high standards. Similarly, conduct careful and thorough assessments of potential
grantees, subcontractors, and vendors to assure they can perform the work successfully, ethically, and in
accordance with the terms of a potential award. Check sanction websites and search engines to assure
candidates and bidders are eligible and have no reputation issues.

7 EXCELLENCE. Commit to excellence in establishing and monitoring oversight systems, maintaining

substantiating evidence, documenting authorizations and approvals, and conducting training and regular
reviews of performance.

8 ASSURE A SAFE, SECURE, AND HEALTHY WORK ENVIRONMENT, especially during the COVID
pandemic. Adhere to DAI’s health protocols to protect yourself and colleagues. You are also expected to
maintain a work environment free of illegal drugs, violence, threats of violence, and the influence of alcohol.

9 TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED. Respect builds trusting relationships that
promote teamwork and nurture an organizational climate that is fair, supportive, and responsive. Your words
and actions are crucial to maintaining this professional environment.

10 PREVENT SEXUAL EXPLOITATION, ABUSE, AND HARASSMENT. Ensure that you have policies and
practices in place to prevent any form of sexual exploitation, abuse, or harassment. In particular, ensure that
employees know that they must not engage in any form of sexual conduct with a child (under 18 years) or the
exchange of sexual favors for money, goods, services, contracts, or jobs. Ensure that your employees know
how to report any sexual misconduct and are confident that they may do so.

11 COMMIT TO CREATING AN ANTI-RACIST WORKPLACE WELCOMING TO AND WORTHY OF DIVERSE

INDIVIDUALS. A commitment to anti-racism requires continuous action to promote equality for all races. It also
requires that we do the hard work to learn the history of racism and anti-racism, educate ourselves and others,
and confront difficult truths. Support marginalized individuals and communities throughout this work and
respect their experience.

12 REPORT OR SEEK ADVICE when you encounter improper or questionable behavior or suspect violations of
the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics. Your concerns or allegations may be raised confidentially and
anonymously, without fear of retaliation, through DAI’s ethics hotline or ethics website at
www.dai.ethicspoint.com. Timely notification permits DAI to resolve issues quickly and to inform clients where it
may require their involvement.

13 PROTECT WHISTLEBLOWERS and those who report allegations from retaliation. Remember they have
shown courage by bringing these matters to our attention. Make sure they are always treated with respect.

14 BE TOLERANT. Please remember that these are testing times, and your colleagues may be juggling time
pressures and social issues. Please adopt an appropriate tone when communicating, noting that e-
communications can sometimes appear more hostile than intended.

15 ANY QUESTIONS: If you have any questions or concerns on the points raised above, please contact the
originator of this message or send an email to [email protected]
