Justification for a Trapezoidal Auditorium:
• They are able to accommodate a large number of attendants while keeping a frontal view of the performers.
• At the same time they are not prone to flutter echoes, simply because of the non-parallel walls.
• Having all seats turned toward the central arena in a concave fashion helps establish greater intimacy between the
performers and the viewers.
• It offers great sight and aural clarity to the audience.

Materials used:
• WALLS: Sound Acoustic Panels to be placed on the walls and ceilings as high walls and bare walls are areas that are
reflective surfaces and will cause reverberant noise problems. The acoustic panels introduced will help to correct
acoustical performance characteristics. Fabric covered foam panels is the kind of material we will be using for the
walls in our design.
• FLOORS: Underlayment materials could be foam, vinyl, rubber. They are dense and they can provide sound
absorption but also soundproofing. Generally, they are applied between subflooring (usually concrete or plywood)
and flooring (could be hardwood or laminate). Underlayment makes the sound within the room much softer, and
the footsteps are immensely reduced as well as the noise from underneath.
• CEILING: Ceiling systems should be acoustically hard and convex to provide early reflections. Acoustical reflectors
are suspended ceiling panels which are strategically angled to reflect sound waves to the back. Teak timber wood
with a matte finish and fiberboard can be used for their reflective nature to induce sound amplitude.
• SEATS: The sound absorption coefficients of acoustical seats significantly contribute to the auditorium’s acoustics.
Acoustical parameters include the density of sound-absorbing foams, high-quality upholstery fabric, ventilation
holes and the structure of the seating.
