Session Example

REGAINING POSSESSION EARLY


(Pressing; High Pressure)

This is an Instructor’s Session on Team Defending.

• A full team is needed.


• A full field is also needed.
• Establishing the defending/transition mentality from the start is critical. Without it the session
will not work. Urgency to win the ball immediately must exist.
• Group and Team Tactics are very important in order to carry out the topic.
o Pressing and High Pressure
• Roles and Functions of individuals and groups need to be clearly defined.
o Assigning positional numbers are necessary: #9 for Center Forward; #6 for Defensive
Midfielder etc.
• Teaching Counter Attack should also be introduced as a result of Regaining Possession Early.
• More than once session will be needed to accomplish the task of Regaining Possession.
• Coach needs to have a strategy for the upcoming game. In other words why is this session
necessary for the team?

DYNAMIC WARM-UP OBJECTIVE: TO SET THE MENTALITY
A. All players in 2 lines go thru a series of (It is critical that the Coach sets the right mentality
