Foreword
Our company has been in the water systems business for over 30 years now.
During these past decades, our responsibility has firmly been to provide quality
products and services to our valued clients. This we have done by distributing
select global brands in the water systems industry, such as:

A.O. Smith Water Heaters for electric and gas-fired storage heaters (USA),

Bennington Instant Heaters (Singapore),

Aermotor Pumps and Water Systems (USA),

Sta-Rite Pool Products (USA), and

Jet-Flo (Various)

With today's rapid technological development, growing environmental

consciousness, and rising oil and electricity rates, our responsibility has evolved
from providing quality products and services to providing solutions that use
modern technologies to reduce wastage and bring down operating costs.

In our Heating Systems product division, we have developed a commercial

systems department solely devoted to providing customized cost-saving
solutions for commercial establishments.

I invite you to read our feature article on the CURRENT TRENDS IN WATER
HEATING SYSTEMS in the succeeding pages. This features technologies that
forward-looking companies like Shangri-la (among others) have invested in, and
what these have done for them. Hopefully, it will give you the modern answer to
the question “How do I reduce my water heater / boiler operating cost?”

The performance of the Solar-heat pump water heating system in Shangri-la

Edsa is excellent. It is not free as pure solar energy. It never is. But using
heat pump as backup, it's as close to free as it gets. Operating cost is
reduced by more than 80%.

Now all steam boilers of Shangri-la Edsa are scheduled to be shut down,
except for a small capacity to serve steam and high temperature
requirements for kitchen and laundry.

Heat Pumps

Heat Pump Water Heater (HPWH) is the

proven technology that uses the same
mechanical principles as refrigerators and
air conditioners to generate hot water.
Unlike conventional electricity and fossil-
fuel-fired water heaters, HPWHs take heat
from the surrounding air and transfer it to
the water in the tank.

The heat pump works by taking heat from

A.O. SMITH GLASS LINING
SETS THE STANDARDS
For long tank life, nothing matches the quality
of A. O. Smith's PermaGlas coating, standard
on all our Stock Tanks and one of your many
choices on Custom Tanks. Permanently
bonded to all inner tank surfaces at 1600°F,
PermaGlas provides truly superior protection
against corrosion. And every A.O. Smith glass-
lined tank is further protected against corrosion
by single or multiple magnesium anode rods.

Advanced Tank Design

& Glass Lining Technology

Almost every commercial water heater made has a

glass lined tank to protect against corrosion and
leaks. But only A. O. Smith can protect its
premium heaters and tanks with exclusive
PermaGlas Ultra Coat.

The process starts when the bare tank

components (including the tank shell, heads
and bottoms and the heat exchanger) are
welded together before application of
PermaGlas Ultra Coat

PermaGlas Ultra Coat, in “slush”

form is then poured into the completed tank.
The tank is then sealed and rotated in
several directions, to allow the coating to
precisely cover all water-side inner tank
surfaces, and the interior of the heat
exchanger

Excess PermaGlas slush-coating

material is then drained from the tank CERTIFICATIONS TO ASSURE
The slush-coated tank is then run

Cyclone XHE Commercial Gas Water Heaters

Introducing the World's First 99%

Efficient Water Heaters
The original Cyclone XHE line (BTH-120 through BTH-250) set
standards for performance and quality that still stand. 94%
thermal efficiency. Multiple venting options. Space-saving,
time-saving installation versatility.

Now, with an unprecedented 99% thermal efficiency, the

Cyclone BTH-300 and BTH-400 raise the bar yet again. The
newest Cyclones combine 130 gallon storage with 300,000 and
400,000 BTU inputs. By manifolding multiple units together,
total storage and recovery can be increased dramatically.

The Cyclone XHE far surpasses federally mandated ASHRAE

standards for heat loss and complies with CEC Title 24. Top
and bottom insulation and a sealed submerged combustion
chamber reduce heat loss to an absolute minimum. 99%
thermal efficiency allows Cyclone BTH-300 and BTH-400 to
provide total investment recovery in as little as two years.

The expanded Cyclone line gives you a commercial water

heater choice for mid-sized restaurants and 50-300 room hotels,
with significant advantages over both standard systems and
boiler installations. And breaking the 99% barrier truly does
make Cyclone the most efficient water heater line ever built.

Cyclone XHE Commercial Gas Water Heaters
The Innovation that Leads
A)The burner precisely mixes
blower driven air with gas for
maximum combustion efficiency

B)After ignition, a swirling flame

shoots downward into the
submerged heat exchanger

C)The hot fuel gases are forced

downward into the helical coil
portion of the heat exchanger

D)The spiral shape of the coil

keeps the gases swirling &
pressed against the coil wall for
an extra high rate of heat transfer

Strength in Numbers
Cyclone XHE water heaters
can be installed in
manifolded multiples to serve
the highest demand
applications in place of boiler
systems. For example, four
BTH-400s can be manifolded
to provide total storage of 520
gallons and inputs of
1,600,000 Btu.

Instant Electric Water Heaters
Bennington Instant Water Heaters are top-of-the-line heaters uncompromising
in quality and safety features. Bennington heaters are made in Singapore and
designed for strict Singaporean regulations. All Bennington heaters comply
with the latest International Standard IEC 60335-2-35: 1997-12, Singapore
Standard SS146:Part 2:5 1999 and IP 25 Splash Proof Standard.

What Safety and Quality means:

In contrast to conventional instant water heaters in the market which use

plastic cylinder tanks, Bennington heaters use large copper cylinder tanks
certified to withstand pressure of 10 bars and tested up to 20 bars.

Complying to the IP 25 Splash Proof standard minimizes the possibility

of electrocution and damage to the heater circuitry.
C600 Multi-Point Heater

High quality dual Japan copper elements ensure both element durability
and efficient performance in heating capacity.

Safety is assured by our German designed “Pressure Differential Flow

Switch” (PDFS) and Dual Thermal Cut-Offs. The former prevents overheating
or rupturing of the heating cylinder under extreme high pressure. The latter
provides double thermal cut-off protection compared to the single thermal cut-
off found in conventional instant electric water heaters.

Built-in Pressure Jet (selected models only) Activated

Upper Chamber
(Low Pressure) Lower Chamber
(High Pressure)
Lower Chamber pressure is higher than the Upper
Chamber pressure, resulting in upward diaphragm
movement.
Outlet Inlet

In the event of a blocked outlet, the water in the PDFS Sensor and PDFS Main is
static, creating an equal pressure in both chambers. The diaphragm remains in
a horizontal position and thus, the micro-switches are not activated.

In the event of a wrong Inlet/Outlet connection or back flow of water, the Upper
Chamber will have a higher pressure than the Lower Chamber, resulting in the
PDFS Power Selector Plate being pulled away from the micro-switches.
Therefore the power is not activated and dry heating of the elements does not
happen.

Chemical Factor Swimming Pools Drinking Water
Free chlorine residual
(chlorine and hypochlorites) 0.3 to 0.7 ppm 0.2 to 0.6 ppm
PH concentration 7.2 to 7.6 7.2 to 8.0

If PH is too low (below 7) If PH is too high (above 8)

Water becomes acidic 
Chlorine activity is slowed and becomes inefficient

Chlorine residuals dissipate rapidly 
Scale formation in pipes occurs

Eye irritation occurs 
Pool walls become discolored

Plaster walls are etched 
Water becomes cloudy

Metal fittings, pump impeller, heater core may corrode 
Filter is overworked

Dissolved metals may leave stains on walls 
Eye irritation may occur
