Shadows
A loud crash followed after a painful yell. Inside the four dark corners room was a man,
with fist closed and wet dripping blood between his knuckles. In a broken glass was a reflection
of another man with eyes burning with anger, sadness and pain as the unforgettable traumatic
memories flashing back like a thunderbolt.
For other people, memories are important because it make them of whom and what they
are right now. It reminded them of all the happiness and struggles they had once before making it
to the top… well except for this man. He hated flashbacks of memories back when he was child.
He chose to forget everything rather than feeling the pain all over again. He despised the idea of
having a perfect family. He was known and successful, yes. But inside him is a broken piece of
feelings.
In daylight, he was gentle but in night time he was dangerous. Every time a memory of
him triggered back before, he becomes someone else. He couldn’t bear the feeling of agony. And
without knowing, he created another personality; a character out of him that holds the memory of
pain he couldn’t endure. There’s someone inside him who was different from the real and
someone violent who carried the raging emotions… that later on destroyed him inside.
The shadows of the past kept haunting him that brings out his other self. He was afraid.
He couldn’t control himself from going back, back to his childhood past where he was beaten,
locked up in the dark both by his parents. He was once an abused child. It was his memory that
made him changed into someone he didn’t expected for. It was the pain why people thought he
was crazy, why he’s dangerous and why he had this dissociated identity disorder that only
psychology could explain.
Everyone ignored him. They couldn’t accept this man because he was insane as they
viewed him. The last time they saw this man was cold as an ice. His eyes are closed and there
wasn’t a single movement. A breathless person that ended the miserable life he had to escape the
shadows of painful memories and his other self.
