 Activity

Please the passage independently, then discuss with your group to answer the questions.

 LAFS.1.RF.1.1- Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print.

demonstrate understanding of key details in a text.
 LAFS.1.W.1.3- Write narratives in which they recount two or more appropriately sequenced

order, and provide some sense of closure.
 LAFS.2.W.1.2- Write informative/explanatory texts in which they introduce a topic, use facts and
definitions to develop points, and provide a concluding statement or section.

Procedures

Students will read the passage “The End of Ellis Island” independently.

The teacher will begin to divide the students into small-groups and allow the students to discuss and
