The document discusses building circuits using a simulation to complete a bingo board. Students explore how different components like batteries, bulbs, switches, and resistors affect current in a circuit.

Taking electrons away determines whether a material is able to conduct electricity.

The type of circuit affects the brightness of the bulbs. The bulbs in the parallel circuit are much brighter than the bulbs in the series circuit. I think this happens because both bulbs are in a parallel circuit.

Lighting a lightbulb with two wires and a battery (paste screenshot below):

Has 2 bulbs in a parallel

Has a voltmeter measuring the voltage across the battery

Has a switch in it, to turn the bulb on or off

Has two bulbs in series

Is a short circuit (battery is on fire)

Has four bulbs that are all lit

Cristina Gandolfo:

Has a really slow current flowing through the wire

Tests whether a paper clip conducts electricity

Tests whether a hand conducts electricity

Has more than one battery

Has an ammeter measuring the current in the circuit.

Includes a resistor

Has a brighter bulb than the last circuit you made

Has more than one possible path for electrons to take

Tests whether an eraser conducts electricity

Includes a lightbulb and a resistor

Has three bulbs with the same brightness

Has two bulbs, each with different brightness

Has a broken fuse

Has batteries connected the wrong way, so the electrons don’t flow
Tests whether a coin conducts electricity

Has 18 V across the lightbulb

Has a switch that controls only one of two bulbs in the circuit:

Has a switch that controls both of two bulbs in a circuit

QUESTIONS:
What factors determine whether a material will conduct electricity?
Taking electrons away determines whether a material is able to conduct electricity.

How does the type of circuit (series v. parallel) affect the brightness of the bulbs? Why do you think that is?
The type of circuit affects the brightness of the bulbs. The bulbs in the parallel circuit are much brighter than
the bulbs in the series circuit. I think this happens because both bulbs are in a parallel circuit.

What does a switch do?

The switch manages the current in a circuit.

What does a fuse do?

The fuse is meant to melt when there is too much current inside of the electrical circuit.
