2. Course Description
Introduction to technological and conceptual aspects of informationsystems; data and information modeling
systems, design and analysis of modular information systems, workflow modeling and project management
methodology, models for information systems process development and implementation, post-
implementation of IT systems, information systems examples including materials requirement planning,
enterprise resource planning and supply chain management.
3. Course Overview
The main objective of this course is to provide an introduction to the field of information systems, and an
understanding of the role and the potential impact of information systems within organizations. We also aim
to familiarize the students with the current technology and the models used for the organization of data as
well as the use of information in transaction processing, management and decision-making. Additional
objectives are: to demonstrate the use and value of information systems in various industries; to discuss
the role of information in globalization, outsourcing and supply chaining, to discuss how information
technology has been reshaping business practices and the factors contributing to the current trends.
