THINK AND ANSWER
Ans. Jhalkari was a true and loyal companion of Rani
Lakshmibai. She always remained by her side and they
practiced war skills together.To safeguard the Rani’s life,
Jhalkari convinced her to leave the fort for a safe place when
the British army overpowered them. She disguised herself
as the rani by wearing her clothes. Jhalkari was captured by
the British, who mistook her for Rani Lakshmibai. She was
sentenced to death.That’s how Jhalkari proved her loyalty
by sacrificing her life.
Ans. Dulaji was a traitor. He betrayed his Rani by
helping the British in return for a large sum of
money. On the other hand, Jhalkari was a true
patriot. She remained loyal to her Rani till her last
breath.

The Jhalkari of my Life
Aim – To help students acknowledge and appreciate the bravery and
constant efforts of the women in their lives.

Activity – The students would have to do the following:

1) The students will make a simple craft crown for a very special woman in
their lives. It can be their mother, sister, teacher, etc. A woman who has the
same qualities as Jhalkari, like being brave, courageous, hardworking etc.
You can make the crown using colourful A4 size sheets. A few easy samples
are shown in the next slide. The students can decorate their crowns using
whatever material they easily find at home.
2) The students will then show their crowns in class and share for whom
have they made the crown and why. They will convey their thoughts in
5-7 lines.

3) The students will have to be ready with their crowns and write-up
(5-7 lines) before the next English class. Each student will be given a
chance to present their write-up in the class.
