•  Good Business Practice


•  Ensures UConn can continue operations of selected
functions under a broad range of circumstances
•  Provides guidance on how to handle operations with
limited resources (infrastructure, facilities, personnel)
•  Ensures the university meets requirements
o  Regulatory compliance (Audit findings)
o  Directive by FEMA for emphasis on Continuity Of Operations
Plans (COOP)

Continuity Plan Requirements

Continuity Plans must:


•  Be effective with and without warning.
•  Take an all-hazard approach.
•  Include alternate facilities.
•  Have essential functions operational within 12
hours of activation.
•  Be able to sustain operations for 30 days.
