I. COURSE TITLE: EDUC 101 (Methods of Research)

II. CREDIT/NO. OF UNITS: 3

III. COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course covers the study of the fundamentals of research with emphasis on problem
identification and formulation; literature reconnaissance; research design and methodology; and
data analysis and interpretation.

IV. COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course, the students should be able to:

1. identify a topic and justify it with supporting list of related literature;


2. identify and define the variables to be studied;
3. develop the theoretical/conceptual framework;
4. formulate the major and specific problems to be investigated; and the hypothesis;
5. review critically and synthesize related literature, and identifying the gaps in the body
of knowledge;
6. decide on the methods and procedures to be used in the collection and analysis of
data
7. apply his knowledge and skills in analyzing and interpreting data;
8. reflect in his work the ethical principles of research
9. develop an understanding of field service management; and
10. write a research proposal
