Demand Forecast Methodology
The travel demand model for
YUTRA is developed for the
assessment of strategic transport
development options.

It is a four stage model:

1. Trip-end model

2. Distribution model

(2) Traffic Management

Major Causes of Traffic Congestion

1. On-street parking and illegal parking
2. Insufficient traffic signal operation
3. Improper boarding and alighting
behavior of bus passengers
4. Deteriorated road pavement
5. Flooding of road way
6. Schools, hospitals, shopping centers,
etc. that attract many people without
enough parking space
7. Busy roadside activities and
encroachment area )
8. Road works
9. Large volume of trucks and other large
vehicles mixed with other traffic
21
Parking Problems Motorcar users have no choice but to
park on-street causing traffic congestion,
since number of off-street parking is
limited.
