Boy, you were lucky.

28I saw a woman in a restaurant. I thought she was a friend of my sister’s, so I went and sat down at her table. I was

Wow! How embarrassing!

Wow! That's really funny.

Letters to the Editor

Something nice happened on my birthday a few years ago. I was with my girlfriend in a really expensive restaurant.
We were celebrating our birthdays – both our birthdays are in the first week of June, and we were both turning 27
that year. Anyway, while we were looking at the menus, a cell phone rang. It was the guy next to us. When he
finished his conversation, he and his wife got up right away, paid the bill, and left the restaurant. It looked like they
didn't like their food, so I was a little worried about our own meal. A few minutes later, the owner of the restaurant
came to our table. He asked if we wanted a free dinner. The meal was from the people at the next table. They had to
leave because they had an emergency, and they didn't have time to eat anything. It was this really nice big meal they
ordered for two people – salad, steak, everything. So we had a delicious dinner, and we didn't have to pay for it!
We loved it so much we came back again the next year on the same day. Now we go to that restaurant every year for
our birthdays.
