Sahara Desert
The Sahara Desert is very hot during the day but it becomes cold at night. It is covered with
sand and gravel. Here and there a well or spring is found. This is called an “oasis”.
People live in village here and grow crops. They make their home or shelters
from Stone, baked mud, clay or grasses. Special clothing is worn
to protect them from the heat and sand blown about by the wind.
People wear long loose robes covering the whole body, including the head.
If traveling across the desert, people shelter in a tent
and cover the desert floor with rugs.
