    Assembly D18309-115 and Inflation valve D18308-119 to the Note in Paragraph 1.A.
    These are field only configurations created by Service Bulletin A320 004-25-85 which
    contain fusible plugs. The company logo was updated on all pages. “Air Cruisers” was
    “Air Cruisers Company”.

    Please discard Service Bulletin A320 004-25-87 now in your possession, and replace
    with the attached Service Bulletin A320 004-25-87 Revision No. 3, dated 07 Feb 2020.

    NOTE: Fusible Plugs, P/N B13984-3, Lot PA-21 or PA-22, shipped from Air
    Cruisers Company approximate dates of Oct 1, 2008 through Oct 1, 2009.
    Fusible plugs shipped as spares could potentially be installed on systems,
    reservoir and valve assemblies and inflation valves listed above and/or
    systems FWD Slide/Raft D30664-( ) and Aft Slide/Raft D30665-( ); Off-wing
    Slide D31865-( ) Reservoir and Valve Assemblies D18309-103, -105, -115,
    and 60592-101, -103, -105; and Inflation valves D18308-103, -105, -111,
    and -119.
    B. Reason
    To recall Fusible Plugs LOT PA-21 and PA-22 installed in inflation valves
    and inflation systems in service. Fusible Plugs are safety devices which
    safely vent the pressure from charged inflation systems in the event the
    inflation systems are subjected to excessive temperatures. Two incidents
    have been reported from the field where fusible plugs manufactured from
    the suspect lots have activated below their rated temperature of 174
    degrees Fahrenheit. Testing conducted on fusible plug from suspect lots
    indicate that the plugs activate (vent gas) between the temperature range of
    130 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Activation of the fusible plugs will vent all
    gas from the inflation system reservoir rendering the system unusable.

    C. Compliance
    It is recommended that this modification be accomplished at the next
    access to the equipment.
    D. Description

    NOTE: Only those organizations authorized by the FAA or other


    airworthiness authorities are permitted to perform this modification.

    Operators are to check all fusible plugs, B13984-3. Any fusible plug
    stamped with lot number PA-21 or PA-22 are to be scrapped. Check
    evacuation system, reservoir and valve assemblies and valves in spares for
    fusible plugs with the above stated lot numbers. Plugs with suspect lot
    numbers shall be replaced with new plugs following instructions detailed in
    the applicable Component Maintenance Manual (CMM). Re-identify with
    marking called out in accomplishment instructions.
    E. Approval
    Certification, TSO-C69a or TSO-C69b
    This service bulletin contains modification information which has been
    submitted to the FAA under the TSO-C69a or TSO-C69b authorization for
    the affected articles.

    The inspection procedures described in this SB are reviewed and


    technically accepted by Airbus to apply to the Airbus fleet affected.

    This SB does not contain any change information that revises the
    equipment definition covered by Airbus approved modifications.
    F. Labor Hours
    It will take approximately 0.25 hour per system to accomplish the
    instructions outlined in this service bulletin.
    G. Material - Cost and Availability
    (1). EDR (Engineering Data Release) Kit referenced in Paragraph 3, is
    available at free of charge, 60 days upon receipt of a no charge pur-
    chase order which lists the part number and serial number of the
    system and/or valve. The free of charge condition, and availability,
    will be in effect for three years after original issue date of the ser-
    vice bulletin, thereafter price and availability upon request.

    2. Accomplishment Instructions

    WARNING: REPLACEMENT OF THE FUSIBLE PLUG SHALL NOT BE


    PERFORMED WITH THE RESERVOIR UNDER PRESSURE
    (CHARGED).

    A. Inspect all inflation valves and reservoir and valve assemblies in service.
    (1). Inspect all valves, D18308-103, -105, -109, -111, and -119, for fus-
    ible plugs lot number PA-21 or PA-22.
    (2). Inspect all reservoir and valve inflation assemblies, D18309-101, -
    103, -105, -115, 60592-101, -103 for fusible plugs lot number PA-21
    or PA-22.
    (3). If fusible plug, B13984-3, has a lot number PA-21 or PA-22 remove,
    discard, and replace with new fusible plug and O-Ring from EDR
    Kit, reference Paragraph 3. Install and torque per instructions
    outlined in the applicable CMM.
    B. Inspect evacuation system as follows:
    (1). Gain access to the reservoir and valve assembly and inspect fusible
    plug for lot number.
    (2). If fusible plug, B13984-3, has a lot number of PA-21 or PA-22
    remove, discard, and replace with new fusible plug and O-Ring from
    EDR Kit, reference Paragraph 3. Install and torque per instructions
    outlined in the applicable CMM.
    (3). Repack evacuation system per applicable folding procedure.
    (4). Mark “Inspected/Replaced per S.B. A320 004-25-87” in minimum
    1/4 inch high characters adjacent to the part identification on the
    reservoir and valve assembly and adjacent nomenclature placard
    on the girt with indelible contrasting ink.
    (5). Return to service.
