1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.0 PURPOSE:
The purpose of generating this Method Statement is to define the procedure step by step to implement the
correct practices for Installation of Water Supply Pumps incorporating the contract specifications, drawings,
regulations (specifically PEO’s and the authorities’ having jurisdiction), the approved material manufacturers’
instructions and recommendations as applicable to describes works.
1.1 SCOPE:
This Method Statement is applicable to all activities related to the installation of Water Supply Pumps. This
includes Lifting, Booster, Circulating, Irrigation Pumps, Pressure Vessels, and all the piping attachments
required to complete the pumping station installations. The scope extends to cover all the installation works
starting from the handling & Storage up to the pump room readiness for testing & commissioning. The
specific testing & commissioning of the Water Supply Pumps, along with the remaining water supply piping
network shall be covered by other documents.

Any sign of hazard that would come up during activities shall be evaluated according to the attached
risk assessment.
Proper precautions shall be taken during welding or any other hot application.
The measures and procedures described in the following Risk Assessment (Section 7 of this documents)
are aiming at reducing the associated activities’ risk and shall be strictly adhered throughout the
installation.
4. PROCEDURES:

Prior to moving to site, the Chilled Water Pumps will be checked against the data Sheets to ensure
conformity.
The materials received shall be offloaded in designated lay down yard store.
During shifting or offloading material shall not be dropped off. Proper lifting and transporting
equipment shall be used as required.
The material shall be stored according to the manufacturer's instruction to minimize damage.
All material shall be segregated accordingly to facilitate location of the items.
Engineers will conduct checking of the following (scrutinize and examine documents and unit); motor
and pump type and its components complete and installed, Electric motor type complied with
specifications, capacity, lubrication, vibration and sound level, power and electrical components, unit
control, unit operation, shaft, all of these will be checked and recorded in MVR form, inspection will be
witnessed by the Company.
Where pumps are to be held in a storage area, particular attention will be paid to the condition of
instruments and monitoring devices installed on the control panel fascia. Water circulation pumps shall
be stored and handled in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
Where equipment or equipment section are sealed to prevent ingress of moisture or dust, this shall not
be disturbed unless physical damages observed.
Check for mechanical damages and the operation of moving parts and check for freedom of movement.
Clearance on site to start the pumps installation should be secured first.
Upon receiving the site clearance to install, the routing of services and routing of the pumps up to the
location of its plinth shall be marked or verified.
Ensure that all possible ways to bring the pumps to the pump room have been studied to avoid
unnecessary works.
Ensure that the Area for lifting and bringing of the pumps to the building is ready, clean and clear
from any obstacles. Barricade the area near the lifting place.
The Main Contractor shall allow the use of tower crane. Cranes and other lifting tools shall be capable
to carry the weight of pumps.

The plinth shall be correct, completed, levelled before the fixing pumps. By using a roller pipe, or
manual lifter push the pumps to its desired location. Make sure that the approved vibration isolator is
properly fixed on the concrete plinth. Metal frame base plate shall be fully secured. Use the correct
size of anchor bolts as per pump base requirement in line with project specification and work
standard.
Control panels & MCC’s installation shall be carried out.
Inside the Pump room a manual chain block/hoist shall be use together with the manual lifter to
position the unit. Ensure that pumps will not be damage during the installation. Proper lifting shall be
ensured. Pull the pump on top of the plinth until it will rest correct on its desired location. After the
pumps have been put in place on its plinth with the vibration isolators fixed, a visual inspection shall
be made to verify the correctness of the installation. After the pumps have been set then the necessary
attachments or connections shall commence.
Ensure that all relevant piping and other connections are properly installed or connected, and that the
power cable or wirings are connected in a proper manner as specified on the Manufacturer’s
instructions, Drawings and Project Specifications. Any damage on the pumps during the pumps
installations shall be reported immediately to the concern authority.
Fixing of Chilled Water Pumps Piping connections.
Manufacturer installation instruction manual will be followed and connections will be done as per
detailed drawing. Pressure gages will be installed on the discharge pipes. Pumps wiring connections
shall be according to the manufacturer’s recommendations and installation requirements. Start-up will
not proceed until the wiring is complete and verified, tested.
No acceptance of tests shall be carried out except in the presence of the Manufacturers’ or their
authorized representative appointed for the purpose.
Prior to commencement of testing, a detailed list of installed equipment and piping to be tested shall
be submitted to the Company for his approval and no item on the list shall be removed from the site
without his consent until the completion of testing.

Check installations to ensure that works are carried out as per approved Method statement, approved
shop drawings and agreed quality standards. Below mentioned checks will be performed parallel with
the progress:
Check installations to ensure that the works carried out as per approved method statement,
approved shop drawings and agreed quality standards.
Check materials used are as per approved submittals.
Check all the pipes and fitting are installed without any deflections.
Check levels, dimensions and location as per approved shop drawings.
Check the location and size of Water Supply Pumps is coordinated with Other Services.
Ensure all installation are checked and approved by the Consultant Engineer.
Check overall workmanship of finished works.
Check housekeeping, cleaning and protection of works.
On completion of the activity
Ensure inspection requests issued at least 24 hrs prior to inspection.
Ensure inspection performed as per This Method Statement, and the references and quality
procedures mentioned herein
Review all documentation for completeness and correctness.
Ensure ITP or Check Sheet is fully complied and fulfilled.
Ensure all Test I Inspection certificates available and complete.
Ensure NCR’s (if any) are closed.
Final Acceptance
All related documents are signed-off and approved as per the instructions, quality assurance, HSE, and
Risk Assessment mentioned herein.
