Introduction/brainstorming
A simple past tense has always second form of the main verb.
All of the pronouns (I, we, you, they, he, she, it) go with second form of the main
verb. For example
I saw a dark blue umbrella in the market.
We left our suitcase in the car.
You talked to your mother for a while.
They went to Lahore yesterday.
He caught the train at 8.40.
She climbed quickly out of the window.
It suddenly collapsed.
Tom was a student.
To make negative of a simple past tense, we use the helping verb ‘did’ along with
‘not’. However, after using did, the main verb’s second form will be changed into first
form. For example,
I did not see a dark blue umbrella in the market.
You did not talk to your mother for a while.
He did not catch the train at 8.40.
It did not suddenly collapse.
Also, ‘did’ is used with all of the pronouns.
For Interrogative
To make questions of simple past tense, simply bring the helping verb i.e. did out at
the beginning and rest of the sentence will remain the same. (do not forget to put a
question mark at the end for making interrogative)
Did you talk to your mother for a while?
Did he catch the train at 8.40?
Did we leave our suitcase in the car?
Future indefinite tense has a helping verb ‘will/shall’ along with the main verb. This
helping verb (i.e. will) comes with all of the pronouns.
Also, there is always first form of main verb used in future simple. For example
The last train will leave the station at 8.00.
They will remember the address.
She will buy a whiteboard.
Ahmed will read the novel.
For Interrogatives
Again, bring the helping verb ‘will’ at the beginning of sentence and rest will remain
the same. For example,
Will they remember the address?
Will you go to school?
Will she make Russian salad?
