    The patient presented with acute abdominal pain related to an infectious agent. The nursing assessment found the patient had a fever, rapid pulse, and tender swollen uterus. The plan was for the patient to use comfort measures and relaxation skills to relieve pain over 8 hours with monitoring. Nursing interventions included comfort measures, hygiene education, pain management, and rest. Antipyretics, analgesics, and antibiotics were also administered as prescribed to reduce the infectious process and relieve symptoms. After 8 hours, the patient successfully used comfort measures and reported their discomfort was relieved.
