1. INTRODUCTION
The efficient deployment of construction projects depends mainly on the effective

communication among project participants. This communication, however, is hindered by
the large amount and wide variation of the information involved and the spatial dispersion
of construction sites. Fortunately, there are many web-based resources which can be useful
when it comes to understanding the subject matter to effectively communicate with the
stakeholder. This assignment presents five web portals that facilitates construction
information management and communication.
2. RS MEANS

RS means from Gordian is a data base covering all the estimating needed of construction
industry. Whether you are looking for latest data to understand your completeness or
researching new prospective projects estimation methods, this web portal is the first thing
to look for.
The website gives free access to old data. However latest data can be accessed with a
subscription. The portal overs all the divisions with latest crew rates, productivity, base
material rate and combined estimate. A project manager can easily benchmark their
estimates before submission. This portal can be useful in running parallel estimate for
subcontractor work to validate accuracy of the subcontractor’s estimate.
The website has Books, software or database CDs, subscriber can choose the services based
on their requirements.
