4. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS

Foreign Standard
ASTM - American Society for Testing and Materials (USA)
D740 - Standard Specification for Methyl Ethyl Ketone.

ISO - International Organization for Standardization

ISO 10012-1 – Quality Assurance Requirements for Measuring Equipment.
Part 1: Metrological Confirmation System for Measuring Equipment.

5. DEFINITIONS

5.1 LOT

It is all material manufactured during a single and continuous manufacturing

operation.

5.2 SHELF LIFE

It is the period of time from the date of shipment in which the packed and stored
material under some specific conditions keeps its physical and chemical properties
adequate for use.

6. QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS

6.1 QUALIFICATION

The manufacturer/supplier shall demonstrate to Embraer that the material meets

all the requirements of this Standard.

6.1.1 TESTS/INSPECTIONS FOR THE MATERIAL QUALIFICATION

The manufacturer is responsible for performing and documenting all the

tests/inspections for the qualification of his product, as indicated on Table 1.

NOTE
The exemption of tests/inspections may be proposed to Embraer for analysis,
always followed by technical evidences which justify such exemption. Embraer
reserves the right to accept or not the manufacturer’s proposal.

6.1.2 REQUALIFICATION

The manufacturer/supplier shall inform Embraer of any change in the

manufacturing method, area, or change of the equipments for the analysis of the
necessity of the product requalification. The manufacturer/supplier may request
the partial or total exemption of the requalification for the analysis by Embraer.

REV DATA PÁGINA

R DATE 07 Apr 14 MEP 15-013 PAGE 4
6.1.3 PLANS NOTIFICATION AND TESTS MONITORING

The manufacturer/supplier shall allow the access of Embraer representatives to

the tests areas. A plan indicating the test date and place shall be sent to Embraer,
whenever required.

6.1.4 TEST EQUIPMENT

The manufacturer shall use the calibrated equipments according to ISO 10012-1.
When required, the laboratory shall be qualified by Embraer.

6.1.5 TEST/INSPECTION METHODS

The test methods not covered by a specific Standard (see Table 1) shall be
performed as follows:

6.1.5.1 FOLDING BREAK RESISTANCE

Proceed as follows:

a) cut a test specimen of (420 x 600) mm;

b) fold the specimen in the middle on width (420 x 300) mm;

c) fold the specimen in the middle on length (210 x 300) mm;

REV DATA PÁGINA

R DATE 07 Apr 14 MEP 15-013 PAGE 5
d) put a plate over all the folded test specimen with a weigh of 3 kg during 10
minutes; and

e) open the test specimen and verify if there are fiber broken.

6.1.5.2 RUPTURE LOAD

Cut, at least, 3 fabric strips measuring (25 x 250) mm in the weave and warp
directions. Fix the fabric extremity in the test machine and pull it at a speed of
100 mm/min. The test value shall be the average of the maximum load obtained.

6.1.5.3 ADHESION LOAD

Prepare 3 specimens of aluminum 2024T3 measuring (25 x 150 x 1,5 to 2,0) mm.
Clean and degrease one of the sheet surfaces with methyl-ethyl-ketone (ASTM
D740) and over it fix a fabric strip keeping an extremity in excess according to
Figure 1. Press the fabric with a ruler to avoid air bubbles in the interface. Fix the
specimen in the mechanical apparatus as shown in the Figure 2 and apply tensile
load at a speed of 2 mm/min. The test value shall be the average of the maximum
load obtained.

FIGURE 1: SPECIMEN FIGURE 2: SPECIMEN ATTACHMENT

6.1.5.4 WEIGHT PER AREA

Average weight of 5 specimens measuring (200 x 200) mm.

6.1.5.5 FABRIC CONSTRUCTION

with a aid of magnifying glass, count the number of yarns existent in 10 mm of

fabric (in weave and warp directions).

6.1.6 EVALUATION SAMPLES

Whenever requested, the manufacturer/supplier shall send to Embraer samples of

the material for evaluation along with the qualification test report informing the
following:

a) material quantity;

b) PN, material designation and classification;

c) lot number; and

d) manufacturing date.

6.1.7 AVAILABILITY OF THE TESTED MATERIAL

All sample of material used in the tests/inspections shall be separated from the lot,
identified and allowed at the disposition of Embraer for a period of 1 year,
minimum.

6.1.8 REPORTS/RESULTS OF TESTS/INSPECTIONS

Records, reports, results and other documents regarding qualification shall be

subject to approval by Embraer. Besides the information concerning the
qualification test, these documents shall present the test methodology and
information allowing the traceability of the qualified item, such as:

- test date/place;

- item PN;

- lot number;

- manufacturing date; and

- Standards applicable to test instrumentation gauging, etc.

Copy of these documents shall be filed and available at the manufacturer/supplier

and at Embraer for 7 years, at least.

6.2 SUPPLYING CONDITIONS FOR LOTS SUBSEQUENT TO QUALIFICATION
