7. METHOD STATEMENT:

SHAFT PIPING

a) Mark for pipes on the plastered shaft walls according to details in the working drawings.

b) Ensure that the plastering is completed as it will be almost impossible to plaster walls after the
pipes are in place.

c) Fix brackets as per details shown on the working drawings. A clear gap of 25 to 50mm shall be
maintained between pipe and wall surface.

d) Clamp pipe assemblies on to the brackets. Make sure the pipes are in ‘line’ (horizontal runs) or
in ‘plumb’ (vertical stacks). Where expansion / contraction will be a concern, ensure that pipes
are not rigidly held to brackets.

e) Make cut-outs on the shaft walls for branch pipes at locations shown on the drawings.

f) Insert sleeves wherever required. Ensure that annular space in sleeves is not more than 25mm.
annular space shall be filled with yarn and flexible sealant after installation of pipe through the
sleeve.

g) Provide branches on the pipe assembly for connections to internal pipework. Provide isolating
valves on water supply pipes at locations shown on working drawings; at easily reachable
heights.

h) Test the pipes for leaks under 5 kg/cm2 pressure for the 24 hours duration.

i) Paint the pipes as per approved colour code and provide identification labels where called for.

j) Terminate soil, waste and vent pipes with vent cowls at specified heights above terrace level.

k) Ensure that vent cowls are not terminated within one meter (horizontally and vertically) from
any window openings.

l) Terminate water supply risers with automotive air vents (with isolating valves) and down pipes
with drain plug/drain valve – all as per drawings.

m) Ensure that water supply pipework would be self-venting and self-draining.

n) Connect the soil stack(s) to inspection chamber(s) at ground level.

o) Connect waste stacks(s) to the gully trap(s) at ground level.

p) Connect the gully trap(s) to the inspection chamber(s).

PIPES IN WALL CHASES

a) Make sure that walls are at least rough-plastered and finish levels are marked by the civil
contractor. If proper cladding levels are not marked, the pipes could be too deep or too shallow
inside.

b) Pipes deep in the wall will require use of extension nipples at faucets.

c) Mark pipe lines on walls as shown on the working drawing.

d) Chase the walls to required depth using a chisel and hammer or hammer machine.

e) Assemble piping starting from branch left in shaft and install in the wall chase with clamps.

f) Locate fixture outlets according to working drawing and tile module drawings. Tile modules
shall be marked on walls by the civil contractor.

g) Plug all openings and test the pipework for leaks under 5 kg/cm2 pressure and for required 24
hours duration. Test should be witnessed and approved by authorized personnel.

h) Close the wall chases with cement mortar.

PIPES IN SUNKEN FLOOR

a) Make sure that base water-proofing of toilet floors is completed and finish levels are marked by
the civil contractor.

b) Locate and mark positions of 100mm UPVC soil pipeline and 75mm UPVC waste pipeline
outlets as per approved drawing. Make core drills/wall demolition where necessary.

c) Consider nearest to shaft outlet at 0 lvl and further end outlet at maximum lvl as per finish
level. Calculate the slope allowance and mark levels for soil and waste pipeline outlets.

d) Mix the cement mortar and apply at marked position for outlet and match with level marking to
maintain slope level for soil and waste pipeline.

e) Measure the distance between connecting outlets. Mark and cut the pipe with cutter/saw
according to measured distance.

f) Assemble pipe headers with solvent and connect them to branches left in the shaft for this
purpose.

g) Make sure that pipes are in proper slope and are supported adequately.

h) Always ensure that the spacing of supports is as per specifications. Ensure that floor traps are
installed in level (not tilted) so that the water seal is not diminished.

i) Test the pipes and attend to leaks, if any.

j) Supervise the filling of sunken floors by civil contractor so that the alignment and slope of
drainage pipes are not disturbed.

k) Keep all open ends plugged to prevent ingress of construction debris.

SANITARY FITTINGS AND CP FITTINGS

a) Flush the installed pipework (water supply and drainage) to remove debris or blockages, if any.

b) Install sanitary fixtures, faucets and washroom accessories. Use screws with nylon washers to
fix sanitary fixtures and teflon tape for installation of faucets to pipework.

c) Check CP fittings for leaks and firmness. Ensure that proper tools are used. They must not
make scratches or any other kind of damages on the chrome plated fixtures.

d) Necessary cleaning to be done.

c) Mix the cement mortar and apply on location, place the ms chair bracket and check for line and
level.
d) Cross check the line and level of ms chair bracket and fix the chair bracket in floor with nut
bolting.
e) Fix the concealed flush tank in line and level and complete with inlet pipeline connection.
f) Handover to civil contractor to complete with ledge wall construction and ledge wall plaster
work.
g) Install the wall hung wc over extension pins of chair bracket and fix with washer and bolt.
h) Necessary cleaning to be done.
