Hello students, I’m waiting to see you in classroom.
Nevertheless, we must continue to have online
learning.

Grade 8 On this online learning we will have combination

learning model, that is online and offline. I prepare
module to make you easier follow the lesson during
the 8 meetings. Hopefully, you can enjoy this learning
process.

Here is the class contract, you may take a look

A. NUMBER SEQUENCE

Given a number sequence, asked the next term

Consider the following whole number:

0, 1, 2, 3, 4, … forms a number sequence.

The numbers in the number sequence are known as the terms of the sequence.
The numbers in the sequence are governed by a specific rule.

MS ANNA 1
MATHEMATICS

Example 1

Rule: The sequence starts with 2, then added by 2 to each term to get the next term

Example 2

Rule: The sequence starts with 1, then added by 3 to each term to get the next term

Example 3

Rule: The sequence starts with 1, then multiplied by 3 to each term to get the next term

Example 4

Rule: The sequence starts with 42, then subtracted by 3 to each term to get the next term

 Exercise: (this exercise is inputted in Edmodo)

1. For each of the following sequence, state a rule and write the next two terms
a. 3, 11, 19, 27, …, …
b. 42, 39, 36, 33, 30, …, …
c. 8, 16, 32, …, …
d. 256, 128, 64, 32, …, ….
e. -1, 1, -1, 1, -1, …, ….

2. Diberikan barisan bilangan sebagai berikut : 4, 5, 7, 10, 14, 19, 25, .... Dua suku berikutnya dari
barisan bilangan tersebut adalah ....
A. 32 dan 40
B. 36 dan 40
C. 32 dan 42
D. 34 dan 42

3. Tentukan dua huruf selanjutnya dari barisan berikut: a, c, e, g, i, …, ….

4. Tentukan dua suku selanjutnya dari barisan berikut: a, 3, b, 6, c, 9, …, ….

GENERAL TERMS OF A NUMBER SEQUENCE

Given formula, Asked the next term

Example:
A number sequence follows a rule: 3n + 5. Determine the 5th, 10th, 25th, and 100th term!

To answer the question, you only change the “n” with the asked term which is 5, 10, 25, and, 100

The 5th term = 3 (5) + 5 = 15 + 5 = 20 3n means 3×n

The 10th term = 3 (10) + 5 = 30 + 5 = 35

The 25th term = 3 (25) + 5 = 75 + 5 = 80
The 100th term = 3 (100) + 5 = 300 + 5 = 305

Exercise: (this exercise is inputted in Edmodo)

1. For the following rule of number sequences, determine the 1 th, 12th, 20th, and 38th term.
a. 5n
b. -3n
c. 8n + 1
d. 3n – 4
e. n2

2nd Meeting
 Topics:  Assessment:
 Number Pattern  Edmodo Activity
 Self-Assessment

 Goals:  Vocabulary:
Students are expected able to: Even Number: Bilangan Genap
 find a formula for the general term of a Odd Number: Bilangan Ganjil
number sequence Square Number: Bilangan Kuadrat
 types of number patterns Cube Number: Bilangan Kubik
Rectangular Number: Bilangan Persegi panjang
Triangular Number: Bilangan Segitiga

nya.
Dapatkah kamu menentukan
keunikan pola nya?

Pola ke- 1 2 3 4 5 6
Banyak 2 6 12 20 … …
bola

1x2=2 2x3=6 3 x 4 = 12 4 x 5 = 20 5 x …. = … 6 x …. = …

MATHEMATICS

Some special number patterns:

1. Even Number
Whole number is even number if it is divisible by 2
The number are 2, 4, 8, 10, 12, …

2. Odd Number
Whole number is even number if it is NOT divisible by 2
The number are 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, …, …

3. Square Number

4. Cube Number

MATHEMATICS

8. Pascal Triangle
 Pola bilangan segitiga pascal adalah 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, …
 Pola bilangan ini dapat ditentukan dengan menggambar sebuah segitiga
seperti gambar di bawah ini:

Suku ke-1

Suku ke-2  1+1 = 2

Suku ke-3  1+2+1 = 4

Suku ke-4  1+3+3+1 = 8

Suku ke-5  1+4+6+4+1 = 16

Suku ke-6 

Suku ke-7 

Suku ke-8

Dan seterusnya …

Exercise:

MATHEMATICS

Example:

 Point A is 2 units to the RIGHT and 3 units UP, so it is (2,3)

 Point B is 3 units to the LEFT and 1 units UP, so it is (-3, 1)
 Point C is 2 units to the LEFT and 1 unit DOWN, so it is (-2, -1)
Do it by yourself for the next
 Point D
 Point E
 Point F

MS ANNA 11
MATHEMATICS

 Determine the position of a point from another point (a,b)

2 units to the right

So, we can say the Position of
Point A to the Point F is 2
units to the right and 3 units’
3 units’ down down

Exercise:

1. Determine the position of all point below

MS ANNA 12
MATHEMATICS

2. Determine the position

a. between Point B and Point C
b. between Point A and Point E

3. Plotting all the point below to the coordinate Cartesian. Guess what figure you get.
a. A (2,1), B (2,4), C (-6,2)
b. P (-3,1), Q (-3, -4), R (2,1), S (2, -4)
