2.05.01 ACTIVITIES PRIOR CONSTRUCTION

 Prior to commencement of work following approval should be ensured: -

 Land Acquisition (LAR)-Applicable if any

 Encroachment permit-DO-
 HSE Plan
 Safety & Security Plan
 Traffic Management Plan
 Lifting Plan

 The work sequence for doing the concrete works is as follows:

 Plain Concrete under the Base slab.
 Concrete works for Base slab.
 Concrete works for Exterior and Interior Walls.
 Concrete works for Roof Slab.

2.05.02 SURVEY

 The control points or reference points as given in the drawing will be located.

 The layout as per the relevant drawing will be surveyed using survey instrument like Total
Station on the field with respect to the above control or reference points and will be marked
with painting, pegging, etc.
MS Number: MS-STRUC_LS-01
Revision No:00

2.05.03 STRUCTURE EXCAVATION

 The excavation for foundation bed will be done true to the lines and grades shown on the
drawing or as directed by Field Engineer in accordance with the Specifications.

 Excavation will consist of the removal of the material for the construction of base slab and
associated structure, in accordance with the requirement of ARAMCO/Municipality
specification(s) and the lines and dimensions shown on the drawing or as indicated by the
Field Engineer.

 The work will include dewatering and pumping out the underground water once encountered.
The removal of all logs, stumps, grubs and other deleterious matter and obstruction,
necessary for placing the foundations. Trimming of excavation, back filling and cleaning up the
site and disposal of all surplus material.

 Excavation will be taken to the width of the lowest step of the footing in addition to
replacement structural fill material. All the sides will be excavated to self-stable slope of soil.

 The excavation will be done on angle greater than 45 degree and will be stabilized by shoring
in case if needed.

2.05.04 PREPARATION OF FOUNDATIONS -Lean Concrete

 The backfilled structural fill material will be leveled and compacted in layers to reach the
required level below lean concrete in required slope and grade both longitudinally and
transversely or as directed by the Field engineer. Before footing is laid, the surface will be
slightly watered and rammed. The 50-mm thick broom lean concrete will be placed on
polyethylene sheet laid on compacted suitable material as per drawing details.
 All structural backfill material will be placed as per Approved Drawings.
 This lean concrete will be surface broom cleaned.
 Membrane protection sheet will be installed on top of lean concrete after curing.
 Cement Sand screed will be applied on membrane board as per drawing detail and applicable
Municipality Standards.

2.05.05 BENDING OF REINFOCED BAR STEEL

 Bar bending schedule will be prepared for all components of the structure as per the approved
drawing and will be get approved prior to start fabrication. All the re-bars needed for this
culvert will be cut and bend in the factory (REZAYAT) approved by ARAMCO.

 The bars will be bent by rubber rollers to avoid any damage is to the epoxy coating of the bars.

 Please see the shop drawing for rebar details submitted to ARAMCO under submittal no.

2.05.06 REINFORCEMENT BINDING AND FIXING

 The re-bars delivered from Factory will be installed as per approved bar schedule and
Approved drawings.

 The provisions of chairs, spacers, dowels, laps for the extension of the reinforcement bars will
be made.

 Fixing of the reinforcement bars will be done with the binding wire at each crossing of bars to
fix the reinforcement in their position,

 The side, top and bottom clear cover will be maintained by installation of suitable spacer
blocks while fixing and binding the reinforcement as per the drawing.

 If any change of spacing or diameter of reinforcement bar or number of rods in any component
required for placement of concrete, the Field Engineer/designers will be informed.
MS Number: MS-STRUC_LS-01
Revision No:00

 All the bars are straight and individual, no cage is needed for this structure so all the bars will
be installed manually.

2.05.07 SHUTTERING AND STAGING

 The scheme of the shuttering will be approved before fixing of staging.

 The required calculation will be submitted to ARAMCO for engineering calculation for supports
of forms and supports. Please see our submittal for engineering Calculation No.

 The shuttering will be so made as to produce a finished concrete true to shape, line and levels
and dimensions as shown on the drawings.

 The shuttering plates will be cleaned and shutter release agent will be applied.

 The corner angles or supporting battens will be firmly fixed.

 The corners and joints will be sealed.

 The base slab will be having shutters pre-fabricated with Aluminium beams and cross columns
with push pull props and jacks to support the base of 1.3 m pour.

 The walls shutters will also be prefabricated by plywood, aluminium columns and beams with
tie rods and push pull props. All these shutters will be load sustain shutters to take the full load
of concrete while pouring. The push pull props will be bolted in base slab to give support.

 All the shutters of wall will be having a plate form built by cantilever frame work.

 The roof false work system will be consisting of Jacks connected with M lock cup system,
Primary beams and secondary beams and ply woods.

 All the prefabricated shutters will be installed with crane, the total weight of each panel will not
exceed more than 4 to 5 tons.

 Please see the attached conceptual drawings,

2.05.08 LAYING AND CURING OF CONCRETE

The stages and type of Concrete Pouring will be as follows,

Lean Concrete Type ( C20 ( 20 MPa ) with Silica Fume and Cement Type V
Structural Fill Type ( C 35 ( 35 MPa ) structural Concrete in Contact with Soil.
Reference Drawing NO

a. Base Slab-Footing
b. Walls
c. Top Slab

 Concrete from the batching plant will be transported by the Transit Mixer to the placement site.
The source of concrete will be approved batching plant and the pouring quantity is
approximately 200 cubic meters with the use of 2 concrete pumps having minimum radius of
50 meters to place concrete. Placing of concrete will be done by pipe and concrete will not be
freely dropped in to place from a height exceeding 1.5 m. Slump test will be performed to
confirm the required slump and proper record will be maintained at batching plant and placing
site.

 After checking of steel reinforcement and shuttering by the Field Engineer, the request for
concreting will be produced. Concreting will always be planned to proceed continuously to
complete up to construction joint as shown in the approved drawing.
MS Number: MS-STRUC_LS-01
Revision No:00

 When concrete is conveyed by pipe will be so adjusted that the concrete flows without the use
of excessive quantity of water and without any segregation of its ingredients.

 The delivery end of the pipe will be as close as possible to the point of deposit. The pipe will
be thoroughly flushed with water before and after each working period and the water used for
this purpose will be discharged outside the formwork.

 Concrete will be thoroughly compacted by means of internal vibrator. One set of vibrator will
be kept at site stand by.

 Concrete will be cured for at least 7 days after placement and allowed to attain at least 75% of
its 28-day compressive strength.

2.05.09 BACK FILLING

 Backfilling will be done with approved material after concrete is fully set and in any case, will
not be carried out until sealing of construction joints has been completed and then carried out
in such a way as not cause thrust on any part of the structure.

 All space between foundation concrete and the sides of excavation will be refilled to the
original surface in layers compacted thickness.

 The filled material will be deposited in horizontal layer in loose thickness and compacted to the
requirement of specification.

 This item will be executed under approved Drawing General Notes as well as Municipality
Standards.
