Lesson 1 “EXPLORING BEAT”

I. Introduction:
Look at the picture.
Who is this person in your community?
Show the actions of a policeman.
Sing the song, “May Pulis sa Ilalim ng Tulay.”

II. Objectives:

 Sing the given songs and show the beat by passing a ball steadily

to the member of your family or classmate.

 Sing the song ‘’May Pulis Sa Ilalim ng Tulay” and do the actions of a policeman

 Sing the song “Tong Pakitong”

III. Lesson Proper:
What is beat? A beat is the pulse in music. It is like your heartbeat that moves
steadily. Beats can be felt, heard or both.
In music, beat is very important. One must learn to hear it, feel it and move to it.
Sing “Tong Pakitong.’’

Tong, tong, tong, tong, pakitong, kitong
Alimango sa dagat, malaki at masarap
Kay hirap mahuli, sapagkat nangangagat!

Steady beat is a repetitive pulse that you can feel in songs, chants and rhymes. It
makes you want to stamp your feet, clap your hands, and tap your lap when you hear
music. There is musical element related to beat. It is called rhythm. Rhythm is the
regular repetition of a sound pattern.

Lesson 2: “LINES”
I. Introduction:
Use your pencil, trace the outline and extend each point to draw a line. And color the
picture.

II. Objectives:
 Draw some of your ideas about lines
 Define line and its kinds
 Draw an image using different lines
III. Lesson Proper:
A line is an important element of art. A line starts from point and extends in
opposite directions. It is the seen or unseen linear form of an image.
A line is an extension of a point and it’s drawn by a pencil, pen, or marker as it moves
on a surface.
Vertical line- is one the goes straight up and down, they often emphasize height.
Horizontal line- is straight lines parallel to the horizon that move from left to
right. They suggest width, distance, calmness, and stability.
Diagonal line- is straight line that slant in any direction except horizontal and
vertical. When in use, they suggest movement or lack of stability.
All lines may be classified into the following:
