This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and
independent learning activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also
aims to help learners acquire the needed 21st century skills while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.
In addition to the material in the main text, you will also see this box in the
body of the module:
As a facilitator you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this
module. You also need to keep track of the learners' progress while allowing them to
manage their own learning. Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and assist
the learners as they do the tasks included in the module.
For the learner:
The hand is one of the most symbolized part of the human body. It is often
used to depict skill, action and purpose. Through our hands we may learn, create
and accomplish. Hence, the hand in this learning resource signifies that you as a
learner is capable and empowered to successfully achieve the relevant competencies
and skills at your own pace and time. Your academic success lies in your own hands!
This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful
opportunities for guided and independent learning at your own pace and time. You
will be enabled to process the contents of the learning resource while being an active
learner.
What I Need to Know This will give you an idea of the skills or
competencies you are expected to learn in the
module.
1. Use the module with care. Do not put unnecessary mark/s on any part of the
module. Use a separate sheet of paper in answering the exercises.
2. Don’t forget to answer What I Know before moving on to the other activities
included in the module.
3. Read the instruction carefully before doing each task.
4. Observe honesty and integrity in doing the tasks and checking your answers.
5. Finish the task at hand before proceeding to the next.
6. Return this module to your teacher/facilitator once you are through with it.
If you encounter any difficulty in answering the tasks in this module, do not
hesitate to consult your teacher or facilitator. Always bear in mind that you are
not alone.
We hope that through this material, you will experience meaningful learning and
gain deep understanding of the relevant competencies. You can do it!
What I Need to Know
This module was designed and written to help you to be able to make a
plan that the community may use to conserve and protect its resources for
future generations. The learners will be able to:

Lesson
Exogenic Processes
1
Exogenic processes refer to changes that occur on the surface of the earth due
to different energy sources like the sun, water, wind, gravity, and of course living
things.
What’s In
True or False. Write True if the statement is correct and False if the statement is
not correct.
______1. Physical weathering are changes that occur when limestone is exposed to
acid rain.
______2. Exogenous processes are destructive in nature.
______3. Aggradation results from the deposition.
What’s New
There are several types of exogenous processes. These are weathering, mass
movement, and deposition. All these processes change the surface of the earth.
1. Disintegration
2. Transformation
water, and living thing causes rocks to break down into smaller pieces without
mineral components.
Chemical weathering is brought about the reaction between the rocks and/or
its minerals reacts with chemical agents that causes the rock to form substances
agents like a strong wind, gravity, running water, and iceberg. The tendency of all
Mass Wasting or Mass Movement refers to the large mass of earth materials
being moved by gravity along a slope. Mass movement can be brought about by
However, other forces like geologic, climatic and human in origin can contribute to
mass wasting. And these movements of earth materials can cause damage to life,
Deposition occurs when earth materials settles in low lying areas like at the base of
song or a poem that explains how the different physical agents of weathering causes
disintegration of rocks.
Matching type: Match Column A with Column B. Write the letter of your answer in

I. True or False. Write the word TRUE if the statement is telling a fact and if not,
write the word FALSE
1. Aggradation can cause low lying area to be filled up.
2. Water that has reacted with certain molecules in the air can become slightly
alkaline, causing it to dissolve rocks.
3. Plants can cause physical weathering.
4. Man can speed up weathering.
5. Limestone undergoes hydration when it comes in contact with water.
6. Disintegration causes chemical transformation.
7. Materials from higher elevation erode towards low lying areas.
8. Weathered materials that have undergone compaction and solidification will turn
into metamorphic rock.
9. Exogenic processes only refer to events that occur above ground?
10. Weathering is reversible.
11. Deposition occurs because of gravity.
12. Lithification is rock formation.
13. During rainy season, there are more rock particles that are transported.
14. The best source of energy in the exogenic processes is the sun.
