1. Explain the parts of an information system. What part do people play in this system?

 An information system is essentially made up of five components hardware,

software, database, network and people. These five components integrate to

perform input, process, output, feedback and control. ... Information processing

consists of input; data process, data storage, output and control. The first group of

people to be considered play a role in designing, developing, and building

information systems. These people are generally technical and have a background

in programming, analysis, information security, or database design.

2. What is system software? What kinds of programs are included in system software?

 System software is software designed to provide a platform for other software.

Examples of system software include operating systems like macOS, Linux,

Android and Microsoft Windows, computational science software, game engines,

search engines, industrial automation, and software as a service application.

Systems software are programs that manage the resources of the computer system

and simplify applications programming. They include software such as the

operating system, database management systems, networking software,

translators, and software utilities.

3. Define and compare general-purpose applications, specialized applications, and apps.

Describe some different types of general-purpose applications. Describe some types of

specialized applications.
 The general purpose applications include; word processors, spreadsheets,

presentation graphics, and database management systems-The specialized

application are programs that focused on specific disciplines and occupations

General purpose applications include: word processors, spreadsheets, presentation

graphics, and database management systems. Specialized application are

programs that focused more on specific disciplines and occupations such as

Graphics Programs and Web Authoring programs. The traditional GUI comes

from older software (Windows XP or Windows 7)and word processor (Windows

8)or any other newer programs that run Microsoft offices suites, like “Word

processor 2013; which has the ribbon graphical user’s interfaces.

4. Describe the different types of computers. What is the most common type? What are the

types of personal computers?

 Personal computer: A small, single-user computer based on a microprocessor.

Workstation: A powerful, single-user computer. A workstation is like a personal

computer, but it has a more powerful microprocessor and, in general, a higher-

quality monitor. Minicomputer: A multi-user computer capable of supporting up

to hundreds of users simultaneously. Mainframe: A powerful multi-user computer

capable of supporting many hundreds or thousands of users simultaneously.

Supercomputer: An extremely fast computer that can perform hundreds of

millions of instructions per second. Laptops, hand-held devices, wearable tech,

and desktops are the most common computer types today. Desktops are the oldest

computers and are used to run a large variety of programs and access the Internet.

Laptops are portable versions of desktops that are smaller so they can be carried
around with ease. Workstation. Desktop computer. Laptop. Tablet. Smartphone.

Ultra-mobile PC. Pocket PC. Palmtop and handheld computers.

5. What is connectivity? What is a computer network? What are the Internet and the web?

What are cloud computing, the wireless revolution, and IoT?

 In general terms, connectivity is the ability to connect systems or application

programs. Ideally, these connections are established without requiring many

changes to the applications or the systems on which they run. The world wide

web, or web for short, are the pages you see when you're at a device and you're

online. But the internet is the network of connected computers that the web works

on, as well as what emails and files travel across. Think of the internet as the

roads that connect towns and cities together. Cloud Computing in IoT works as

part of a collaboration and is used to store IoT data. The Cloud is a centralised

server containing computer resources that can be accessed whenever required.

Cloud Computing is an easy travel method for the large data packages generated

by the IoT through the Internet The wireless revolution began in the 1990s, with

the advent of digital wireless networks leading to a social revolution, and a

paradigm shift from wired to wireless technology, including the proliferation of

commercial wireless technologies such as cell phones, mobile telephony, pagers,

wireless computer networks
