2 (a) Let V be the set of all ordered pairs (x, y), where x, y are real number Let a  ( x1 , y1 ) and 10

and the scaler multiplication as  ( x1 , y1 )  ( x1 ,  y1 ) . Show that V is a vector space.

(b) Let Γ = 𝑅 2 , with addition defined by
(𝑥, 𝑦) ⊕ (𝑤, 𝑧) = (𝑥 + 𝑤, 𝑦 + 𝑧) and scalar multiplication defined by
𝑎 ⊙ (𝑥, 𝑦) = (𝑎𝑥 + 𝑎, 𝑎𝑦 − 2𝑎).
Determine whether Γ, a vector space is or not? If yes, find additive identity and inverse.
3. (a) Let 𝑇: 𝑅 2 → 𝑅 2 be a linear transformation defined by 10
𝑇(𝑥, 𝑦) = (𝑥 + 𝑦, 𝑥 − 𝑦),
