WASTE TO ENERGY TECHNOLOGY

Cooperation Offer

Introduction

Household waste is one of the most important problems of megacities. Occupying a large space not only
reduces waste scarce area, but also, more importantly, creates a serious sanitary-epidemiological and
environmental threat. Dumpsites are the hub of pathogenic organisms, bloodsucking insects (mosquitoes,
flies) rats. Slowly decaying waste emit toxic liquid and gaseous chemical compounds that pollute the soil,
and with the rains fall eventually into the groundwater and watercourses. Unpleasant smell of dumpsites
- a good illustration of exceeding all norms of MPC (maximum permissible concentration) of toxic gases.

The downside is that dumpsites consist concentrated sources (containing the entire periodic table of
chemical elements) for the processing industry. One application - waste processing into the fuels and
lubricants: petrol, diesel, fuel oil. REDS Energy designs and supplies plants for recycling of municipal and
industrial waste, solving the complex of environmental and economic challenges:
Environmental effect, by the physical positive impact guaranteed of the permanent proliferation focus
of chemical and biological contamination; destruction/conversion of MSW and toxic materials into
valuable fuels, instead of constant contamination of air, soil and water sources.
Economic effects – recycling and conversion of MSW and toxic waste into various types of fuel. These
fuels are being traded on local market, ensuring financial viability of project. The main principle of
MSW processing plant is projected with the process of thermo-chemical gasification (pyrolysis). These
technologies offered REDS Energy MSW allows to turn waste in desire quality products.

At the initial stage of the intake of solid waste from the dumpsite will be pre-sorting to extract the
components of garbage without energy value: metals, glass, ceramics and building materials such as
stone, cement pieces, bricks, etc. Remaining waste will be subjected to further processing into a valuable
energy raw materials by means of pyrolysis.

Waste Pyrolysys Set
General Technical Characteristics
Raw material: domestic or industrial waste,
agricultural waste, sludge
Capacity: 25 t/day
Working type: Batch
Working temperature: up to 500 OC
By-products: technical carbon, pyrolysis oil
General blocks:
 raw material preparation unit
 reactor with burning chamber
 gas/oil separators
 condensers
 carbon discharge unit
 synthetic gas recycling system
 flue gas purification system
 oil tanks
 cooling system
 pellet production line
The basic pyrolysis process goes as follows:
1. Compressing of waste for better feeding
Firstly, the waste material has to be compressed to speed up the reaction and for easy load into reactor.
2. Anaerobic heating
The loaded material is heated in a controlled manner in an oxygen-free reactor. One of the most crucial factors in
this operation is maintaining the right temperature and the rate of heating, as they define the quality and the
quantity of the final product.
3. Condensation
The gas that comes out from the reactor is condensed by passing it through a condensation system with the
recycled water cooling system.
4. Carbon discharging and pelletizing
Once pyrolysis process is finished the remaining carbon discharged from the reactor is fed to pellet line where it
is crushed and compressed into the briquettes.
Possible by-products usage:
Carbon pellets (up to 40% output) can be used in following facilities:
Cement mills
Solid fuel power plants
Coal fired boilers
Steam powered absorbtion chillers (cold water production)
Pyrolysis oil (up to 35 % output) can be used as following:
Heating oil
Liquid fuel for oil fired boilers
Fuel for direct fired absorbtion chillers
Further distillation to obtain specific fuels and lubricants

Note: the amount and the quality of the by-products are depends on raw material contents, its
physical properties and chemical composition.

Pyrolysis Oil Distillation Unit

General Technical Characteristics

Raw material: crude pyrolysis oil
Capacity: 20 t/day
Working type: Batch
Working temperature: up to 420 OC
By-products: light diesel, heavy diesel, oil,
bitumen residue
General blocks:
 heating chamber with burners
 distillation tower
 condensers
 synthetic gas recycling system
 flue gas purification system
 oil tanks
 cooling system
The basic distillation process goes as follows:
1. Loading the pyrolysis oil or other raw material oil into the main chamber for heating, when the plant
reaches certain temperature(the highest can be 420℃), the oil and water in gas condition flows through
distillation column into condensing system.
2. After condensing by cycle water, the gas oil which can be liquefied is converted to oil (diesel), then stored in
diesel tanks. The unliquefied oil gas is recycled.
3. The material that can’t be gasified at high temperature is the heavy oil residue.

Possible by-products usage:

Light diesel, heavy diesel and oil:
Commercial fuel production (using measures to match standards)
Liquid fuel operated facilities
Oil wholesalers
Oil refinery plants

Bitumen residue (if appears):

Pavement or asfault production

Note: the amount and the quality of the by-products are depends on raw material contents, its physical properties
and chemical composition.
