Narrative Report-Mgt 19
As one of the requirements in our Management 19 subject, we were required to conduct two
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which are sustainable to the community. We decided to organize a
seminar about climate change since it is one of the environmental problems that we are facing today.
When it comes to experiences, this seminar was the most unforgettable one. From the
preparations for the event until the concluding part. It was my first time to ride a dump truck with a very
rough road way to our event place, Barangay Lubilan, Naawan, Misamis Oriental. When we arrived there,
we felt the overwhelmed welcome of the barangay officials of Lubilan. They were very accommodative.
They helped us provide those things that are needed for the said event. After the preparation for the venue,
we set the tables for the registration and announced that the seminar will start at 1:00 pm. At first we’re
very sad and disappointed because only few had arrived to register but fortunately we felt alive after seeing
group of senior citizens were coming, trying to write their names and signatures for the registration. We
were very happy knowing that the total number of registered participants reached more than sixty residents
of barangay Lubilan.
Our guest speaker for that seminar was Sir Renoir A. Abrea, a professor with a master’s degree
in Marine Biology at Mindanao State University at Naawan. He discussed the role of local communities and
the people itself in building a more sustainable world. Drawing on his experience of being an advocate of
Environmental Awareness and Preservation, he highlighted the fact that local communities will
unfortunately have to pay the highest price as a result of the impact of climate change. He expressed his
concern about the lack of global awareness in this regard, and called specifically for supporting the voice of
community and engaging them in action on climate change. His speech took more than an hour, and the
participants were interested and focused on what the guest speaker has discussed. After the discussion, he
encouraged the participants to raise questions. Suddenly an old man raised his hand and made some
comments about what actually happening and the cause of climate change we are facing now.
Listening to the discussion, I also learned that education is an essential element of the global
response to climate change. It helps young people and adults alike to understand and address the impact of
global warming, encourages changes in their attitudes and behaviors and helps them adapt to climate
change-related trends. Education and awareness raising an essential role in increasing the climate change
adaptation and mitigation capacities of communities by enabling individuals to make informed decisions.
Educating less privileged people in mountainous area helps them to understand the causes and
consequences of climate change, prepares them to live with the impacts of climate change, and empowers
women and men to adopt more sustainable lifestyles.
The seminar ended around 4 pm. We thanked the people especially the barangay officials of
Lubilan and also those who participated the said seminar who were mostly senior citizens who exerted their
efforts just to make the event a successful one. We arrived home safely.
One of our Corporate Social Responsibility we organized was the “Operation Tuli” at the Municipality of
Luga-it Misamis Oriental. As we all know that circumcision
