The Effects of Online Classes to the Mental Health of the Students in Kapitolyo High School

Background of the problem

Many countries around the world have adopted the technology. Many low-income
households are unable to purchase the educational and informational technology that has spread
today. Furthermore, these families are unable to provide academic assistance and support outside
of the classroom. This may harm youth who are expected by their teachers and peers to have
these electronic tools as well as an internet connection at home. This can harm a student's self-
esteem and perceived value, as well as cause undue stress. Furthermore, the beneficial and
harmful repercussions of technology on students' social and mental health as a whole are studied
as society becomes more technologically centered than relationship focused. Online learning has
an impact on everyone, from young children through young adults, instructors, and professors.
Many students' mental health difficulties may be exacerbated by virtual classrooms. Others may
experience new changes in mental health and mood as a result of the epidemic and online
learning. The influence of technology on their mental, social, and emotional health is maybe the
most profound impact of all. Numerous studies have discovered detrimental health effects in
these places. According to Julie Ross, an Oak Park High School counselor, the mental health
effects of open and distance learning will differ tremendously from student to student, as each
student, like adults, is an individual. They can't presume it has the same effect on everyone.
According to Ross, distance learning creates a lot of uncertainty for some students and forces
them to adjust to a new normal. The mental health of online learning would vary widely from
student to student. According to McLean and Connor, (2015), Oberle and Schonert-Reiche,
(2016), a relationship between teacher burnout and student academic outcomes, indicating that as
teacher stress levels increase, student learning becomes less effective. Teachers who experience
burnout are also more like to leave the profession. Proxy educators, on the other hand, do not
have the option of abdicating their teaching responsibilities. This shows that burnout among
proxy educators may have a bigger negative impact on the academic success of the students.
