2 Getting Started
The display is located in the middle of the swivel seat console, right above the steering
wheel. The display is used to monitor the vehicle, to perform diagnostics and to control
some vehicle functions.

A jog-dial and 6 buttons can be found to the right of the display.. In this manual these
will be called the jog dial and buttons 1 to 6. Use them to control the display. A small
column on the right of the display is reserved for indicating the button functions. These
indications can be textual or graphical.
2.1 Illumination
The display is provided with backlight which is always on.
The buttons are provided with backlight which will light up after activation of the vehicle
lighting.
2.2 Switch on/off

The display is connected to the vehicle’s power supply and therefore does not have to be
switched on or off manually. Turn the ignition key to position 1 to activate the display.
2.3 Menu structure

Navigating trough the display pages can be done by the menu.
Press button 1 – MENU to open the display menu. A list with the following options will be
displayed:

Use the jog dial to move the cursor (coloured bar) to one of the listed pages, for
example ‘Instrument Panel’, and press button 1 – OK to select the page.
A second menu is available by selecting Terberg Service Tools in the display menu. A list
with the following options will be displayed:

Use the jog dial to move the cursor (coloured bar) to one of the listed pages, for
example ‘Test Instrument Panel’, and press button 1 – OK to select the page.
m WARNING
Only use the display menu when the vehicle is stopped and the park brake has
been applied.
2.4 Exit to Instrument Panel

An ‘Exit’ button is shown under the ‘Menu’ button on most pages. Press button 2 – Exit
to leave such a page and jump directly to the Instrument Panel.

3 Page: Start-up page

After moving the ignition key to the first position or any wake-up signal, the following
start-up page will appear for a few seconds.
This page can also be requested: press button 1 – MENU => select Terberg Service
Tools => select Check Engine Oil Level.
On this page the engine oil level is shown in a representation of the dipstick to enable
the driver to check the oil level at every time the machine is started. The numerical
value to the right of the gauge indicates the amount of engine oil that has to be topped
up.
The following warnings may appear:
The engine oil level is at or below MIN. Top up the

engine oil level with the indicated amount of
engine oil.
The engine oil level is at or above MAX. Drain

engine oil to get the level below MAX.

4 Page: Instrument Panel

After the start-up the first page, the Instrument Panel page, appears on the DIM. This
page also can be requested: press button 1 – MENU => select Instrument Panel.
4.1 Information on Instrument Panel

Current vehicle information is shown on the instrument panel by means ofvia gauges,
telltales and analogue values.
The large gauge in the middle of the instrument panel is

the tachometer. The numbers on the outside of the
gauge have to be multiplied by 100 to get the actual
engine speed.
(OPTIONAL) If a RPM governor is active, a red mark will
show the current governed RPM on the gauge’s edge
The small gauge on the left is the fuel gauge, which
indicates the fuel level.
(OPTIONAL)
If the vehicle is equipped with a urea tank, the fuel level
gauge will also monitor the level in the urea tank.
Fuel level is indicated by a white needle.
Urea level is indicated by a blue needle.

The small gauge on the right shows the actual air

pressure in brake circuits 1 and 2. Each of the brake
circuits has his own needle.
Brake circuit 1 is indicated by a white needle.
Brake circuit 2 is indicated by a blue needle.
Two analogue digits in the middle of the tachometer

indicate the status of the transmission. The left digit
indicates the maximum gear available at the time.
The right digit indicates the actual gear.
The gear lever has to be in Neutral to start the vehicle.

This symbol appears if the gear lever is not in Neutral
and the engine is not running.
The parking- or the service brake must be applied for

starting the engine to be possible. Apply one of the two
brakes if this symbol appears.
The vehicle direction indicator is located between the

small gauges. The arrows indicate the direction of the
current gear: forward or rearward.
The lockup indicator appears above the transmission
status digits when the lockup is engaged.
(ZF-Transmission) This indicator appears when the KD
button on the gear lever is pressed. Please refer to
Transmission Manual for details.
A parameter set that does not belong to this tractor has
been loaded, which means that vehicle functionality is
severely reduced. Only driving is possible.
(OPTIONAL) The tractor can shut down all electrical
consumers, including the engine, after a preset time. To
start the tractor again the ignition key has to be turned
off and on again.
An error concerning the communication to the display
has been detected. Report to maintenance department
or have the vehicle repaired as soon as possible
because wrong information, or none at all, is being sent
to the display.

These are the telltales that can light up on the display. Some of them are related to
optional functions and will only be displayed if these functions are installed on the
vehicle.

4.2 Additional information

Use buttons 2 to 6 to request additional information on the instrument panel. A pressed
button’s indicator will light up to indicate which information is being shown. Analogue
values are shown at the bottom of the display and function specific telltales may light up
when a warning/indication is being sent. To make sure no function specific telltale is
missed, the indicator of a button will flash when a function specific telltale is active.
Press button 2 to request Engine information:
1. Engine oil pressure in bar

Press button 3 to request Transmission information:

Press button 1 – MENU => select Numerical Values 1.
The Numerical Values 1 page displays available data in numerical values as a result of
which different signals can be monitored at the same time. NV1 displays the more
dynamic values. The more static values will be shown on the Numerical Values 2 page.
Since all the information on the different signals and measurements is shown on the
display already, only a list will be mentioned here.

Press button 1 – MENU => select Numerical Values 2.
The Numerical Values 2 page displays the more static values from the driveline and the
vehicle.
Since all the information about the various signals and measurements is shown on the
display already, only a list will be given here.
- Trip mileage
- Mileage
- Engine running hours
- Engine idle time
- Total fuel used
A vehicle identification tag is displayed in addition to this information, containing:

- Order number
- CentralController serial number
- Software version number of the CentralController
Press button 6 – Reset to reset the Trip mileage to ‘0’.

7 Page: Display Settings

Press button 1 – Menu => select Display Settings.
Turn the jog-dial to move the selector through the display settings. Press OK to select
one of the settings and the selector will move to the right to indicate which setting has
been chosen. Turn the jog-dial to change the setting and press button 1 – OK to confirm.
Press button 2 – Cancel to return the selector without saving the new setting. Press
button 6 – Back to leave the Display Settings page and return to the last page.
The available settings are:

- Language English / German / <not available>
- Clock 00:00 – 23:59
- Date 01.01.2000 – 31.12.2300
- Brightness Display
- Brightness Key

8 Page: Stall Test

Press button 1 – MENU => select Terberg Service Tools => select Stall Test.
The Stall Test page provides the possibility to force the transmission into its maximum
gear, which is necessary to perform the so called ‘stall test’. This function also can be
used to raise the transmission oil temperature.
The conditions that need to be fulfilled before performing the stall test:
1. Park brake has to be engaged
2. Service brake has to be engaged
3. Shift lever has to be in Forward or Reverse
When these conditions are fulfilled, press button 6 – MAX to set the maximum gear.
Press button 5 – Reset to return the transmission to its starting gear.
m WARNING
When performing the Stall Test no other personnel, except for the operator, is
allowed to be on or near the vehicle.
Only use the Stall Test when the service brake is fully depressed.

9 Page: AEB Start

Press button 1 – MENU => select Terberg Service Tools => select AEB Start.

The AEB Start page provides the possibility to perform the AEB Start without any
additional tools or equipment. The AEB Start is an automatic calibration routine which
adjusts the different internal couplings inside the transmission.
The AEB Start consists of two pages. The first, AEB Start – Conditions, is used to monitor
the conditions that need to be fulfilled before performing the AEB Start:
1. Park brake has to be engaged
2. Shift lever has to be in Neutral
3. The transmission oil temperature at sump has to be between 70 and 90 degrees
Celsius
4. The engine speed has to be between 700 and 1100 rpm
When all conditions are fulfilled and showing a green dot, press button 6 – AEB to
perform the AEB Start.
As described above the transmission oil temperature has to be above 70 degrees

Celsius. To raise the transmission oil temperature the Stall Test page can be used.
The next page, AEB Start – Status, will appear, showing the actual state of the AEB
Start. A green arrow will indicate which adjustment is being made. If a problem occurs,
it will be described at the right bottom of this page. If the AEB start is aborted a red
exclamation mark is shown on the right of a status to indicate when the AEB start was
aborted.
When the green arrow is pointing at ‘Adjustment finished’ the AEB start has successfully
been completed. To resume driving the vehicle the ignition key has to be switched off
and on again.
m WARNING
If the AEB Start is aborted before the ‘Adjustment finished’ indicator lights up,
no information is stored in the transmission ECU.

10 Page: Manual Gear Selection

Press button 1 – MENU => select Terberg Service Tools => select Manual Gear
Selection.
This page provides the possibility to control the transmission manually. To do so: turn
the jogdial to select the required gear. The green border around the indicator ‘D’ (drive)
will move over the numbers in the display. The direction of the transmission (forward,
neutral or rearward) is taken from the shift lever. Move the shift lever into the desired
direction and the requested gear will be engaged.
The requested gear can be changed while driving by turning the jogdial. If the operator
selects ‘D’, the transmission will go back to it’s normal automatic program.
m WARNING
Manual Gear Selection is meant for service purposes only. Do not use this
function in regular use of the vehicle.

11 Page: Terberg Diagnostics

Press button 1 – MENU => select Terberg Service Tools => select Terberg Diagnostics.
The Terberg Diagnostics page can be used to monitor the actual state of the vehicle and
to read fault codes. With a sufficient access level it is also possible to calibrate sensors
and change parameters.
ECU Tree Information field Button bar
On the left of each subpage the ECU Tree is shown. This Tree can be used to navigate
trough different subpages and to switch between different ECU’s. In the middle a empty
field is shown in which information will be shown after selecting a row in the ECU tree.
On the right a bar is shown which explains the function of the buttons.
Press button 1 – Scan to scan for the vehicle ECU’s.

Use the jog-dial to move the ‘cursor’ (coloured bar) to one of the listed ECU’s, and press
button 1 – Enter to select the ECU.
The information of the ECU will be shown in the middle:

Press button 1 – Enter again to fold out the ECU in the ECU Tree:
Three options are available; Parameter, Process Data and Error Memory. These three will
be explained in the next chapters.
11.1 Parameter
Via Parameter settings functionality, limitations and calibrations can be altered.
m WARNING
Adjusting parameters is to be done by trained personnel only. Altering
parameters could change the vehicle response/behaviour. Take great care
when doing so and always perform a test-drive with the new parameter setting.
To request the parameter settings, fold out the ECU Tree of the ECU you wish to alter,
use the jog-dial to scroll to ‘Parameter’ and press button 1 – Enter two times. The
parameter groups will fold out and the following subpage will appear:

Again, scroll to the parameter group you wish to alter and press button 1 – Enter two
times. The parameter subgroups will fold out and the following subpage will appear:

Scroll to the parameter subgroup you wish to alter and press button 1 – Enter once. The
parameters in this subgroup will become visible in the middle of the subpage:
Press button 2 – Edit to move the cursor to the middle of the screen.

Move the cursor with the jog-dial to the parameter you wish to alter and press button 1
– Select.
By moving the jog-dial, the parameter can be altered. Leave this option by pressing
button 1 – Deselect after you’re done. Press button 6 – Back to move the cursor back to
the ECU Tree.
The current parameter value will be stored as long as the ignition key is in position 1.
After the ignition key has been turned to 0 the settings will be lost. To store the
parameters permanently, the parameters have to be saved. To do so, move the cursor
to the ECU, and select it by pressing button 1 – Enter.

Press button 6 – EEprom to store the current parameter settings permanently to the
ECU.
11.1.1 Parameter Password

Some parameters are only available after entering a password. To enter this password,
select one of the controllers and press button 2 – Password.
A popup will appear in the middle of the screen. To insert a password, change the
current number by turning the jog-dial and select the different positions with button 2 -
> and button 3 - <. Press button 1 – Enter to confirm the set password. The popup
screen will disappear. Now you can proceed to the parameters in which, after entering a
valid password correctly, more parameters will be available to alter.
Please note: if you have to enter e.g. 1234, press enter after setting the ‘4’. Do not
press button 2 - > first. This will set the password to 12340, which is not correct.

11.2 Process Data

Via Process Data functionality, the actual vehicle state can be monitored. In- and
outputs are displayed and also some numerical values. To request the process data, fold
out the ECU Tree of the ECU you wish to monitor, use the jog-dial to scroll to ‘Process’
and press button 1 – Enter two times. The parameter groups will fold out and the
following subpage will appear:

Scroll to the Process Data group you wish to monitor and press button 1 – Enter once.
The Process Data in this group will become visible in the middle of the subpage:

11.3 Error Memory

Via the Error Memory, actual and saved error codes can be requested and deleted. To
request the error memory, fold out the ECU Tree of the ECU you wish to check, use the
jog-dial to scroll to ‘Error Memory’ and press button 1 – Enter once. The following
subpage will appear:
Press button 2 – Active E to delete the actual errors.
Press button 3 – Stored E to delete the saved errors.
Press button 6 – Back to move the cursor back to the ECU Tree.
Use the jog-dial to move the list of error codes if the list is longer then one subpage.
To update the error code list, press button 6 – Back and select ‘Error Memory again’.

11.4 Exit Diagnostics
To exit the Diagnostics page, move the cursor to the top of the ECU Tree and press
button 1 – Enter.
Now press button 6 – Exit, to leave the Diagnostics page.

12 Page: Output Activation CC

This page provides the possibility to enable a specific output of the controller to be
activated, overruling any condition in the software.
m WARNING
As software conditions are overruled, use this page with extreme caution.
Before activating an output, consider what is going to happen to anticipate on
the result of activating the output.
Output activation is meant for short activation of the outputs. Activate the
output only as long as absolutely necessary.
Press button 1 – MENU => select Terberg Service Tools => select Output Activation CC.
By turning the jogdial, a coloured bar will scroll over the different controller outputs.
Select the output you wish to activate. Press button 6 – Activate to activate the selected
output. By turning the jogdial again, or leaving the page, the output will be deactivated.

13 Page: Output Activation DRC

This page provides the possibility to enable a specific output of the controller to be
activated, overruling any condition in the software.
m WARNING
As software conditions are overruled, use this page with extreme caution.
Before activating an output, consider what is going to happen to anticipate on
the result of activating the output.
Output activation is meant for short activation of the outputs. Activate the
output only as long as absolutely necessary.
Press button 1 – MENU => select Terberg Service Tools => select Output Activation
DRC.
By turning the jogdial, a coloured bar will scroll over the different controller outputs.
Select the output you wish to activate. Press button 6 – Activate to activate the selected
output. By turning the jogdial again, or leaving the page, the output will be deactivated.

14 Page: Test Instrument Panel

Press button 1 – MENU => select Terberg Service Tools => select Test Instrument
Panel.
This page is a copy of the Instrument Panel and can be used to perform a lamp test.
Press button 6 – Act. IP (which stands for Activate Instrument Panel) to activate almost
all of the telltales and indicator lights.

15 Password protected pages
m WARNING
Some pages do require a password to gain access. Please note that these pages
always require specific knowledge and/or training. Make sure to read this
entire manual before entering a password protected page.
The following screen will appear after selecting a password protected page in the menu:
To insert a password, change the current number by turning the jog dial and select the
different positions with button 2 - > and button 3 - <. Press button 1 – Enter to confirm
the set password and enter the secure page.
m WARNING
By using the passwords below you confirm that you have read this entire
manual and that you will take great caution while using the password protected
pages!
