The Story of Cinderella

Told from the stepsisters’ point of view

H ello,I'm one of the stepsisters and I am here to tell my and my sister’s

true story. Just so you know I’m the oldest sister.

Let me start from the beginning. It was a beautiful day and we were

moving to a new house that belonged to a rich man (who is now our stepfather).

When we got to the house, a beautiful girl came out and said we were welcome

in. We politely went to the huge table to have dinner. The beautiful girl was

serving us, we later learned she was the daughter of a rich man.

After dinner, the girl asked, “Dessert, anyone?” We all had dessert, and

then the rich man asked, “Where’s Cinderella?” Then we saw her coming to the

table. We noticed something strange about her. She wasn’t wearing her dress.

She was wearing an old grey bedgown, which was unusual. After that, morning

till night, she would carry water, light fires, cook, and wash our clothes.

One day, I tripped on a bowl and the beans and lentils went into the ashes

of the fire. I tried to put them all back, but really only put about half back in.

Every day after that, for some reason, I would always trip on a bowl, even

though I was trying NOT to.

A few weeks later, news came that there was going to be a ball that would

last three days. The ball was planned so that the prince could choose a wife. All
the beautiful maidens were invited to the ball. Cinderella offered to comb our

hair, brush our shoes, and fasten our buckles for us on the days of the ball.

When I went into my bedroom, I saw a big box of something on my bed.

When I opened the box, I saw a bunch of ball gowns. I went to my sister's room,

and saw her look at a big box of ball gowns.

“ You got a box of gowns too?” I asked her.

“ Yes I did. Did you?” she asked me. “ Yes I did.”

Then we heard a shriek. “AAAAAAAH !” It was Mother. We quickly

ran to our mother. She was in our step-sister’s room. “CINDERELLA !

WHAT ARE YOU WEARING !?!?’’ she screamed.

“A bedgown. Why do you ask?” said Cinderella. “ Y-yo-you're wearing

an ugly dirty th-thi-thing that is g-gr-grey!” replied Mother. Then she looked

at Cinderella’s closet.

“WHERE ARE YOUR CLOTHES, CINDERELLA ?!?!”

“I gave them away,” Cinderella said, “to them.” She pointed at us. “I don’t

want them.”

“Well then you cannot go to the ball, for you have no more proper

clothes,” Mother said. Then, she stomped away.

Tomorrow, the ball will take place at the palace. We were all excited for

the ball. Except Cinderella, who had no gown to wear to the ball.
The next day, I woke up, got out of bed, put on my makeup, and then

immediately went to try on one of my new ball gowns. I had kept them all in the

box, neatly folded. I tried on the gown on the top, a yellow one, perfectly sized

for me. Right when I was about to try on another gown, Mother yelled, ”We

need to go now!” Quickly, I ran downstairs, to the front door.

When we arrived at the ball, we saw many maidens there. I guess we were

late, because a few minutes later, all the guests got called to the royal dining

room.

When we sat down, the doors burst open. A beautiful girl, who reminded

me of Cinderella a little bit, stood in the doorway.

“Ah! Welcome!” the prince said. As he greeted her, I noticed that she

looked tired, as if instead of taking a carriage, she had walked. She sat down

between the prince and somebody else, who we did not know.

“Perhaps you are hungry. Please, try some steak.” said the prince.

Obviously, he was trying to impress her.

I guess we weren’t late, because after the feast, the prince said, “And now,

we dance!” I danced with the man who sat next to the beautiful girl. His name, I

learned, was Bob XXI, and ruled over a far away piece of land. My sister

danced with someone named Alfonso III, and Mother danced with someone

named Albert XXXVI. The girl danced with the prince, and when somebody

tried to dance with the girl, the prince would say, “This is my partner.”

When evening came she wished to leave. The same things happened the next day.
On the third day of the ball, it was finally time for the prince to choose his

wife. We were all excited. We already knew that the prince was going to choose

that strange princess. After the feast, the prince bent down on one knee and

asked, “ My princess, will you marry me?” The princess looked surprised, and

to my surprise, she whispered, “ No.” And ran out of the palace. “Wait!” The

prince shouted, and ran after her.

I wish I could tell you what happened after, but I wasn’t there. Mother,

my sister, and I went home. Cinderella was waiting for us when we got home,

but she looked tired. We didn’t say anything though, because we immediately got

ready for bed.

A week later, I heard a trumpet at noon. At first, I thought I thought a

band was outside but then I looked out my window, and saw that the prince was

here at the house.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

“Come in!” Mother shouted.

The doors blasted open. “The prince of this land said two days ago that

every person in the kingdom…” (The person went on forever). “...Anyways,

everybody is required to try on this slipper!” H e said, holding a gold slipper. We

all tried on the slipper, but it was too big. The only one left to try on the slipper

was Cinderella. “Perhaps she tries,”said the person, “for she has to.” Mother

nodded, and Cinderella tried it on. She tried it on, and it fit! “Please, come with

me,” H e said, and Cinderella went into the carriage with him. We all just stood

there, speechless, and that is basically all that happened. Thank you for reading.
