DESCRIPTION
This course provides an overview of a significant area of the contemporary financial markets and
covers crucial elements of fixed-income securities. Debt borrowings influences the cost of
capital and contributes to the firm’s valuation. The course also encompasses risks associated with
fixed-income securities and interest rates. Real-world finance problems are taken up for
discussion with the help of case studies, lectures, and assignments.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The course aims at providing the participants with the following:

• Overview of fixed income securities and their characteristics


• Valuation of the fixed income securities and their yield
• Measure and manage interest rates and risks associated with fixed-income securities
• Understanding the linkages between microeconomic dynamics and bond market
• Risk management using interest rate derivatives

COURSE REQUISITES: GPA of “2.33 and above” in Financial Management
