A/ INTRODUCTION AND INSTRUCTION

1/ Norms and general instructions

1.1 Declaration of conformity

1.2 Introduction

The manual supplies the necessary indications for the installation, adjustment, working
and roller press maintenance following the safety norms in force.
The maintenance and use manual has been realized for the persons in charge of the installation,
use and maintenance of the roller press.
Indeed, this one is used to indicate the device use in a project stage, to supply the instructions
for the function putting, for the use, to manage the staff liable for the maintenance
interventions, and to make easy the order of eventual order of spare parts.

The manual can not replace with the user experience, but only to inform him. The
manual gives the device data at the moment of their marketing and can undergo updating
following modifications carried out in the times. SAHUT-CONREUR reserves the rights to
bring such modifications in the obligation to update the precedent manuals.

NOTA :
Some drawings and flow-sheets are of general use and for this reason the devices in
user possession could vary from indicated drawings and flow-sheets.

1.3 Guarantee

During the guarantee period of 12 months after commissioning the supplier shall settle
all faults or defects which are due to defective material or improper construction. The
guarantee, however, shall be limited to 18 months at the latest after testing/inspecting the
equipment in supplier’s work. The supplier is not responsible for any damage beyond its
control or due to improper treatment not cause by the supplier.
During all the guarantee period, SAHUT-CONREUR binds oneself to eliminate the
eventual defects with the provision that the roller press had been used correctly.
The component replacement by models no approved or no supplied by SAHUT-CONREUR,
or modifications brought without prior authorization cancels the guarantee.
Are excluded of the guarantee the normal wear material and pieces, the accidental damages due
to the transport, the lack of care or a no appropriate or conform use to the instructions in the
present manual.
SAHUT-CONREUR disclaims all responsibility for eventual damages on natural person or
goods, due to a no appropriate use of roller press.

SAHUT-CONREUR disclaims eventual responsibility in the following case :

- No appropriate use of devices by no skilled stuff


- Use contrary to the specified norms
- No correct installation carried out by a third person
- Feeding defects and errors
- Lack of maintenance
- modification or interventions no authorized
- use of no-original spare parts
- non observation of instructions.

1.4 Intervention and spare parts request

The intervention requested by skilled technicians is necessary for maintenance


interventions, but also concerning interventions for which the skilled stuff from customer is not
able to intervene.
The intervention request by the commercial department should be made at the following

1.5 Spare parts

The customer has to buy inevitably original spare parts. See the spare part list necessary
to keep an effective and reliable roller press, the indications concerning their identifications and
the modalities to order them are detailed in the chapter L spare parts.
The orders of spare parts have to carried out at the address above mentioned in
specifying :
- the roller press model, the serial number and the manufacture year
- the code and description of the requested spare part
- the address and the name of the responsible person from the company and
the delivery place of spare parts

3/ Safety notes

3.1 Safety notes

The present chapter includes the information and indications that must be inevitably
respected at the roller press’s reception, during its installation, its use and its maintenance.

The instruction mentioned hereafter must be read attentively to avoid person’s accident
and/or thing’s damages of any kind.

3.2 Safety note from the operator

All the persons who work on the roller press should before read attentively the manuals
to know completely the material.

The machine must be observed attentively by a vigilant operator who must listen all
suspect noise or odour and, if necessary, to be able to stop immediately the roller press.

All problem that will affect the staff or machine safety, should be corrected very
quickly.

All piece modifications of any kind, can not be made without a written agreement from
SAHUT CONREUR.

All replacement of mechanical devices, pieces, should be done with material of same
type, same mark than the faulty pieces.

All the valves, taps, emergency off buttons, material hydraulic, electric and mechanical
safety, should be in a prominent position and easy to reach.

3.3 Safety note during the operator and the maintenance

Before the roller press’s operation, all the safety notices, sensor, emergency off button,
hydraulic and greasing material, etc.. should be in working order and impeccably clean. Its
access should be clear.

During the roller press’s operation :

- the dedusting system should operate continuously


- the water circulation system should not be reduced or stopped
- the sensors and other safety notices should be connected and in working
order

Before all intervention on the roller press, to make sure that the machine is de-
energized, that the hydraulic circuits should decompressed and that nobody can start-up again
the roller press, the hydraulic circuit, or all other devices that could be dangerous for the
operators.

During the mounting, dismantle or replacement of pieces on the roller press, check that
the less of handling is adequate and that the load to hand should be correctly fasten.

Check that the lifting system has always a load superior to the material to hand.
The application of the safety and of accident prevention rules increases when the equipments
are wore.

3.4 Safety note concerning the electric and hydraulic equipments

The material should be only installed and exploited by a competent and qualified staff,
perfectly informed on the applicable safety rules.
All works on components under-voltage, should be carried out imperatively at the
following conditions :

- Presence at least of 2 qualified persons, one person who works on the


components under voltage, the other must be able to start up, if
necessary, the main switch or the emergency off with a shunt tripping.
- The working area should be delimited by a red and white band and by a
panel danger.
- The working should be carried out with an appropriate and insulate
tools.

All the electric and hydraulic equipments should be checked and controlled regularly.
All the devices that show a fault or a premature wear should be repaired or replaced.

The replacement of electric or hydraulic equipments should be carried out with a


material of same reference, same mark than the origin material.

4/ Instructions before start-up

4.1 Good reception

The customer has to check the totality and the integrality of good sent, in checking the
contents of various cases / packages with the packing list.

Before to take the cases / packages, the person in charge of the goods reception must
control their weight indicated on the plates fixed on the packages sides and give the instructions
to move them with the appropriate means in using the hold points on the cases / packages.

The transport and the installation must be only carried out by skilled stuff and following
the instructions mentioned in the present manual.

During all the moving operations, use personal protections : work gloves, shoes with
anti-slippery soles, working helmet…

4.2 Installation and start-up

Before the roller press installation, the customer has to provide the implementation of
all the installations (electric, hydraulic, greasing…) necessary at its working.

SAHUT-CONREUR disclaims all responsibility for all damages caused by errors of


move operations carried out by incompetent stuff or by no appropriate means.

The roller press installation must be carried out following procedures indicated in the
chapter I installation and always in observing the safety norms and dispositions in force in the
establishment.

The pieces lifting and move from roller press must be carried out in taking into account
of anchoring points.

All the installation interventions must be carried out by skilled technicians or under
their supervision, in particular the installation interventions on the electric and hydraulic parts.

Before doing the electric connexion from roller press to the electric supply, check that :
- the electric hardwire section used is adapted
- the values of the frequency and the supply pressure to the device must
correspond to the values indicated in the electric diagram and on the plates
of the electric devices
- the installation of the roller press earth plug is correct
- never intervene on the device when it is under pressure
- eventual instruments and/or auxiliary equipments installed are in good
condition of working following their specifications indicated in the
respective instruction manuals.

4.3 Storage

4.3.1 General conditions

This procedure has for aim to define the means implement to ensure the protection of
material against the damages that can result of the external factor action during the transport and
the eventual storage

4.3.2 Storage conditions

The material must be keep in a dry local and at the shelter of the elements. The local
must be keep in off frost.
If the storage locals are place near machines that father vibrations such as : compressors,
machine tool, overhead cranes…, there are risks or roller marks. To avoid that, proceed at the
rotation of mobile and fixed roll in making the rolls do ¼ turn about all the 6 months.
During this operation, avoid to damage the external protection, but if there is damage,
proceed to the necessary retouching

All the material must be put on a firm ground interposed by spacers, pallets, beam or
supports of an other nature to prevent the direct contact with the ground.

4.3.3 Protection

All the surfaces non machined are painted with :


. primary coat type : EPODUX 61134 + HARDENER
. second coat type : EPODUX 61134 + HARDENER
. finish coat type : POLYSTRIA + HARDENER

All the surfaces machined are cleaned and protected with :

. WHITE SPIRIT type VARSOL 40


. varnish type TOTAL OSYRIS DWX 9000
. roll of rust proofing cloth ref. MILB 121A grade C type II

4.3.4 Preparation and application of surfaces

This application is only valid for the pieces machined non painted.
Clean the surfaces to protect with a solvent type VARSOL 40 and ensure that they are
dry and exempt of grease and oxide.
Then, apply the patent type OSYRIS DWX 9000. After dry, apply on the surface a
neutral fatty paper type PAXOR réf. 43101 in taking as soon as possible on the exact shapes to
protect without for that compress the protector coating

4.4 Maintenance

The roller press has been realized and manufactured to reduce at the minimum the
maintenance interventions.
Make a regular maintenance guarantees the staff and device safety.

All maintenance operation must be carried out with the roller press out of order. All
source of power supply must be deactivated.

The maintenance operations must be carried out following the norms and the
prescriptions illustrated in the present instructions.

The maintenance operations must be carried out by skilled and trained staff. For the
complex maintenance operations, consult our specialised technicians to identify eventual
anomalies that can appear during the maintenance operation.

Check periodically the good working of all the safety devices present on the roller press.

To guarantee the good working of the device, it is necessary to respect the delivery, the
dispositions and the precautions of maintenance in the present chapter, in noting each time the
frequency.

During the maintenance operations, the use of material potentially dangerous or harmful
for the operator’s health or for her security must be carefully valued and it is so necessary to
provide adapted individual protections for the operator.

4.5 Various risk

4.5.1 Stability

The roller press has been realized and manufactured in order that its stability permits the
use, without reversal or fall risks, during its working or its maintenance.
The roller press must be already fixed on ground with appropriate fasteners.

4.5.2 Breaking risks

All the possible breaking reasons that can create a risk for the operator have been taken
into consideration. The roller press can not present breaking risk with violent projections of
components from the device or material in elaboration.
The components from roller press are dimensioned to resist to the efforts during the use.
The used material shows sufficient and appropriate resistance characteristics for the use
conditions. Resistance and dimensional calculations have been made on the components chose
for the manufacturing and the reliability roller press

4.5.3 Risks due to mobile accessories

Protection systems blocked by screws have been realized to protect the operator from the
components in motion.
Already check that the components in motion are stopped before dismantle the protection
systems.

4.5.4 Risks due to the noise

The roller press can produce a noise superior to 75 Dab due to the product compaction.
The operator has to provide individual protection devices adapted.

4.5.5 Risks during the cleaning operations

During the cleaning, the operator can be in contact with dust that can be harmful for her
health. Therefore it is necessary that the operators have on them the devices of individual
protection and take all the necessary precautions.

4.5.6 Risks due to the electrical equipments

The electrical installation is realized in conformity with the norms in force, in respecting
the safety parameters.
The roller press has been realized, manufactured and equipped to avoid all risks due to
the electrical power.
There is no risk at the roller press’s contact even under pressure.
Electrocution risks can exist if the works on the equipments under pressure are carried out. The
interventions on the installations must be avoided when these ones are under pressure,
particularly by unskilled staff.
