F7A MK7 PRODUCT SUBMISSION NOTES

GENERAL

We are pleased to submit a proposal for the supply of a range of models which we believe, meet the
requirements of the your customers.

There is a wide range of rescue helmet models in the Pacific Helmet range, but this proposal will deal
with Euro style Fire & Rescue models.

PACIFIC F7A MK7

• Light Weight Kevlar Shell

• Full Poly Urethane Impact Liner
• Ratchet size adjustment (54 – 62cm)
• 3 Point Chin Strap
• Pacific Quick Release Buckle
• Full Polycarbonate Face Shield
• Pacific Easi-On Torch Base
• Certified to EN443 & EN166.

PACIFIC HELMET FEATURES

A number of particular features regarding the helmets require specific mention.

Modularity and Durability

The components of the helmets are completely modular and in the event of accidental damage in
service, can be replaced in the field without using special tools. We believe this will give an effective
service life of up to 15 years.

Ease of Size Adjustment

Our models incorporate the ratchet nape size adjustment. Now being copied by most other
manufacturers this simple system allows the size of the helmet to be adjusted while on or off the head
and provides a most effective and comfortable helmet. Moreover, it permits a single size of helmet to
be purchased which will comfortably fit 99.9% of all wearers. The helmet, properly fitted, can be
retained on the head by most wearers even with the chinstrap undone.

Comfort
As helmet manufacturers we believe that comfort and user satisfaction is a key factor in the
consideration of any helmet. We place great emphasis upon creating a durable comfortable product.
Spare Parts
Due to the modularity of the design, every component is available as a spare part. It is the
manufacturers policy to ensure spare part prices are held at extremely reasonable levels. All
components are guaranteed to be available for at least 10 years after date of manufacture of the
original helmet.

Lightweight
The Pacific range of helmets has a reputation for lightweight robust construction. Although a
fibreglass alternative is available, we recommend the Kevlar version which incorporates the latest
Kevlar®-Aramid lamination technology which results in a strong rigid raw shell weighing less than
400gms, and a total helmet weight (excluding accessories) of less than 1.3kg.

Why Kevlar®/Aramid reinforced shells. Almost without exception, the Ambulance/Rescue

Services around the world that decide on the Pacific Helmet range, decide on the Kevlar/Aramid shell
options; Kevlar is a DuPont material, now matched by similar materials from other suppliers. It
provides a superior performance rescue helmet shell compared to straight fibreglass laminates.
The benefits include:

Sheer Strength - the shell is virtually unbreakable as Kevlar retains its integrity and will not tear.

Light Weight - matched against the equivalent woven fibreglass material Kevlar is 20% lighter.
This results in an average Kevlar reinforced shell being around 100gms lighter
than the fibreglass equivalent.

Long Service Life

Helmets in service are showing an exceptionally long service life. The NZ Fire Service (which was
the first major Brigade to purchase a Pacific Helmet) has had helmets in service for more than 22
years, and many of these helmets are expected to last many more years. A large number of other fire
and rescue services have Pacific Helmets in use throughout the world.

HELMET SUB COMPONENTS

Impact Liners

The internal liners for Pacific helmets are designed to provide total cranial protection of the head.
They feature:

• Full head cover polyurethane liner

• Secure click in ribbon cradle harness
• Fully modular for easy cleaning and replacement
• Mesh crown piece for maximum comfort and air circulation
• Ratchet adjustable sizing: 56 – 62cm (further size adjustment kits available)

The area of head protection is designed to both NFPA 1971: 2007 and AS4067: 2004 Standards, and
is not limited to the area of head protection required by EN 443. Most European helmets are designed
only to comply with minimum protection levels.

Details of the difference between these protection levels is illustrated by the following illustrations:

Chinstraps
The chinstrap design is as follows:

3 Point. This is a modified chinstrap with an additional nape strap which travels around under the
wearers’ ear lobes, and which secures to the rear of the helmet shell. This nape strap is also adjustable,
so as to provide additional security on the head. The QR buckle on the 3-point strap is normally
positioned under the jaw, just to the LHS, with the female component coming from the left side of
shell.

Chinstrap materials. Chinstraps are made using polyester webbing with Pacific Snapclip Quick
Release buckles, these are fitted as standard. However, you can upgrade to the PBI chinstrap, which
is flame resistant webbing.

3
Face Shields
The Pacific F7A MK7 has an internal face shield, which is a mandatory fitting in Standard helmets.
The Shield is available in either 2mm or 3mm polycarbonate, clear or smoke tint.

Neck Protectors/Ear Flaps

All neck protectors affix to the F7A MK7 model helmets through a buttonhole system. There are 4
basic material options available. However there is no requirement in EN443 or for a neck protector to
be fitted, these are an optional extra.

The material options are as follows:

PBI
Single layer – PBI usually using daisy yellow.

Leather
Single Layer – Black

ETU Wool
Single Layer - specially treated New Zealand wool fabric, with a flame spread protection, similar to
equivalent Nomex material. Also available in double layer configuration.

SERVICE EMBLEM

It is possible to fit the Service EMBLEM on the front of the helmet under the clear gloss. These can
either be supplied by the Service (a label on an adhesive back) or can be printed in New Zealand
copied from sample labels provided by the Service.

This feature is an optional extra.

OTHER OPTIONS INCLUDE:

Hi Visibility Paint Colours - For Rescue Crews and special applications, these special safety
colours are recommended.

Helmet Carry Bag - A useful canvas/zipped helmet carry bag c/w carry handles is available as an
accessory. It provides excellent protection and care for the helmet.

Reflectorising and Rank Stripes and Alpha Characters - These can be factory fitted, if necessary
under the clear gloss coat in order to provide lifetime durability. No self-adhesive material has an
adverse effect on composite laminated shells. There are many size and colour options available.

Torch - We recommend the use of the UKE 4AA torch, which is intrinsically safe. Depending on the
helmet, these can be brim mounted (clip available)

STANDARDS CERTIFICATION

EN443
A copy of the BSI Certificates showing CE certification can be supplied upon request.

EN 166
A copy of Test Certificate for face shield submitted to EN166 can be supplied upon request.

WARRANTIES

The products and the various sub-components are supplied with varying warranties (depending on the
model) from 1-2 years.

SHELLS
Covered by 2-year warranty.

EAR FLAPS/NECK PROTECTORS

6-month warranty. We recommend they be replaced after a maximum of 50 wash cycles.

FACE SHIELD/EYE PROTECTORS

1-year warranty. Replace once scratched or deformed by heat, smoke or other pollutants.

COMPONENTS
2 Year warranty (except Face shields/eye protectors/neck protectors).

These warranties cover only faulty materials or workmanship and exclude fair wear and tear, of which
the Manufacturer (or his agent) shall be the sole arbiter.

Many fire fighting, or rescue operations including training or simply careless use can result in damage
to the equipment, which is not covered by the warranty.

Follow instructions in this booklet for regular checks on this equipment and when making
repair/replace decisions. Most components are available as spare parts.

The above warranty time limits do not imply any form of helmet life expectancy. These time frames
simply place reasonable limits on the discovery of faulty materials and allow these to be dealt with.

Kevlar reinforced composite helmet shells and most other subcomponents can be expected in normal
operating circumstances to have a useable life expectancy in excess of 10 years.

INSTALLATION SUPPORT

Our distributor will provide support for the initial installation and training of your staff, with a
personal visit at a pre-arranged time and to conduct a seminar. Technical support is provided from
New Zealand with occasional liaison visits from factory personnel.

5
AFTER SALES SERVICE AND SPARES

A full range of spare components is available. All sub-components are available as spare parts and are
completely interchangeable in the field. It is recommended that fire departments carry spare parts kits
as a standard item.

PRODUCTION/DELIVERIES

The delivery lead-time on the F7A MK7 model is currently 4-5 weeks. (Ex-factory)

BAR CODES and PRODUCT TRACKING.

All Pacific helmets now carry a unique identification number (numeric and bar-code scanner readable)
that is used for lifetime tracing of helmet manufacture and spare parts assistance. This number may
also be used by Fire Departments as the reference number when the helmet is issued and for
subsequent asset traceability.

SAMPLES

A condition of the supply of samples is that they be held or returned in the condition in which they
were supplied or they will be chargeable. If special trial helmets or any form of testing is required,
helmets for this purpose will be supplied at normal single helmet prices. In the event of an offer not
being accepted sample helmets are expected to be returned undamaged in original condition.

Distributors are advised to inform would-be purchasers of these conditions relating to supply of
samples. Field or laboratory testing which is likely to result in damage or destruction of the helmet
may only be conducted with the written approval (in advance) of the manufacturer.

If there are any further queries please contact us.
