Batangas State University: Answer The Following Scenarios
Batangas State University: Answer The Following Scenarios
CASE 1
You were recently hired by a Sales Company to manage their small network. Employees are
using different devices such as laptops, desktops, and phones to access, and they are complaining
that the network is slow. After examining the existing network, you found out the following
network design.
● The main hub is connected to a router to access the internet.
● The main hub is also connected to four (4) hubs attached to different workstations.
The company has four groups of users: the Sales Department, Admin Department, IT
Department, and the HR Department. Each department has a unique demand on the network in
terms of availability and bandwidth.
Base on the scenario above answer the following:
A. Draw the Existing Network Topology of the company
B. What is/are the cause of the slow connection?
The incorrect setup of the router and its settings are the causes of the slow internet
connection. There is only one router wherein the main hub, another four hubs of the
department and multiple devices are connected to it so therefore, there will be a slow
internet connection problem.
D. As a network administrator, how can you enhance and improve the performance
of the network? Draw the network topology of the proposed enhancement.
Suppose you are the Network Administrator of PB Main II suggest a network design that can be
used to improve the BatStateU network. Consider the following parameters. Explain your answer
and illustrate your design.
● Network Redundancy
● Failure Domains
● VLAN
● Routed Network
Since the CEAFA building provides internet to different department including
CICS, CIT and SSC building, there are several parameters to consider in improving the
network design. Single router and switch are not enough to provide smooth access to
each department. To improve connection and performance, I installed routers, servers,
and switches in each building, which are also linked to the main router and switch in the
CEAFA building. Also, there is network redundancy which acts as a backup mechanism
for quickly switching network operations to redundant infrastructure. Although the
internet is the obvious example, the said point applies to any network, such as a large
campus backbone and routers provide additional benefits that go beyond data forwarding.
