Teaching fractions is an essential part of mathematics curriculum. The concept of a


“fraction” is abstract and visualizing part vs. whole is a developmental skill not fully in
place for some children. Manipulatives can help the concepts become more concrete.

In this assignment, you are required to carry out the following main tasks:

1. Discuss the importance and challenges of teaching Fraction at primary level.


2. Summarise information from various sources on how to use teaching tools
(manipulatives) to teach fractions.

3. Suggest TWO creative activities with suitable manipulatives to help children


understand the concepts of equivalent in Fraction at primary level.

Support your discussion with relevant articles or suitable resources.

Mengajar pecahan adalah bahagian penting dalam kurikulum matematik. Konsep


"pecahan" adalah abstrak dan menggambarkan bahagian berbanding keseluruhan adalah
kemahiran pengembangan yang tidak sepenuhnya tersedia bagi sebilangan kanak-kanak.
Manipulatif dapat membantu konsep menjadi lebih konkrit.
