1. MAYANA HERBAL PLANT


Scientific name: Coleus blumei
Coleus blumei (Mayana) is one of the traditionally used folkloric medicine and is primarily
used for pain, sore, swelling and cuts and in other instances as adjunct medication for delayed
menstruation and diarrhea. This traditional uses of mayana are scientifically supported by studies
here and abroad. Mayana is an herb that is usually cultivated as ornament. It has acer rubrum
leaves which are dotched or colored with mostly purple. Some leaf colors are yellow, green, red,
pink, and sometimes blue but the most common one is purple. Its leaves give mayana its
appealing hue, prompting people to display several varieties in their homes.
Coleus is a plant that has been used to treat cardiac problems including hypertension and
chest pain (angina), as well as respiratory problems like asthma, since ancient times. The coleus
plant's roots contain forskolin, which is a chemical. Also, Coleus is used to treat allergies, dry
eye, skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, obesity, painful menstrual periods, irritable bowel
syndrome (IBS), urinary tract infections (UTI), bladder infections, advanced cancer, blood clots,
sexual problems in men, insomnia, and convulsions when taken by mouth.

2. PAIT PAIT HERBAL PLANT


Scientific name: RAUVOLFIA SERPENTINA
Rauvolfia serpentina is an important medicinal plant. Rauwolfia serpentina is a safe and
effective treatment for hypertension. The plant was used by many physicians throughout India in the
1940s and then was used throughout the world in the 1950s, including in the United States and
Canada.

One of the active constituents of serpentina is reserpine. Reserpine is categorized as a


rauwolfia alkaloid used to treat hypertension, usually in combination with other medications like
diuretics. Serpentina contain good amount of reserpine and exhibited strong antibacterial activity
against most of the tested human pathogenic bacteria. It can be used againts coughs, headaches,
edema, earache, pain conditions, inflammation and muscular pain, arthritis, rheumatism, fibro
myalgia, multiple sclerosis, depression and anxiety, diarrhea, dysentery, cholera, candida, lupus,
diabetes, piles, fevers, fatigue, and etc.

It works by relaxing the heart muscles and blood vessels by blocking nerve signals. Relaxed
blood vessels have less resistance, which lowers blood pressure. In addition, the heart beats more
slowly, which allows it to recover and pump blood more efficiently.
Serpentina has been used also to treat anxiety, insomnia, and certain mental diseases because
it can depress the central nervous system. It was shown to decrease episodes of agitation,
excitement, hallucinations, and withdrawal symptoms. The use of serpentina and its benefits
include more than just lowering blood pressure. Commonly used in both Chinese and Ayurvedic
medicine, it has been used to treat a wide variety of ailments.
