INTRODUCTION
What is trigonometry?
Trigonometry is a branch of mathematics that studies relationships between side lengths and
angles of triangles. Trigonometry is known for its many identities, which are equations used for
rewriting trigonometrical expressions to solve equations, to find more useful expression or to
discover new relationships.

 Trigonometric Ratios
Trigonometric ratios are the ratios between edges of right triangle. These ratios are given by the
following trigonometric functions of the known angle A, where a, b, c refer to length of the sides
in the accompanying figure.
 Trigonometric Ratios Of Allied Angles
Trigonometric ratio of allied angles, when the sum or difference of two angles is either 0 or a
multiple of 900.
Example: - 300 and 600 are allied angles because their sum is 900
600+300=900

 Trigonometric Ratios Of Compound Angles

An angle obtained by algebraic sum or difference of two or more angles is called Compound
Angles.

 Trigonometric Ratios Of Multiple And Submultiple Angles

Angles of the form 2Ɵ, 3Ɵ, 4Ɵ….. Are integral multiple of ‘Ɵ’ and called ‘Multiple Angles’.
On the other hand, angles of the form Ɵ/2, 3Ɵ/2 …… are called ‘Submultiples of Ɵ”.

 Factorization And Defactorization Formulae

The operation shown by rightward arrow is called ‘Factorization’. This is the process of
conversion form sum\difference into product.
The operation shown by leftward arrow is called ‘De-Factorization’. This is the process of
conversion from product of terms into sum\difference of terms.
