1. Genre consist of four elements or parts: character, story, plot and setting. An equation for
remembering the genre : story.

2. The characteristics that make these genres similar in terms of structure are the structure of
the movie: the premise, the plot of the movie / the action, the location, and the characters of the
story. These are what defines the type of movie genre that could be drama, comedy, action,
thriller, terror, western, romance, children, adventure, and science-fiction. Basically, most of these
genres can have sub-categories according to the specific topic of the story.

handwritten graphis in place of traditional font. Drawings enhance the story, often adding humurous elements
that would be missing if the illustrations were omitted. Incorporates handwritten graphics in telling a story, much

Graphic Novel is a book made up of comics content. Although the wprd "novel" normally refers

fiction, and anthologized works. Uses a comic boo format presented in panel and read from left to right. More
often have their story lines wrapped up in only one to two books.

All of these genres incorporate drawing, illustrations, or graphics in telling a story.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED:

1. The conventional literary genres are poetry, drama, fiction and non-fiction.
2. * Based in oral tradition with no known author.
* Anytime and anyplace (once upon a time in a place far away).
* Common ending (they lived hapilly ever after).
* Often magical.
* Typically evil is defeated and the hero/heroine triumphs.
* Contain universal truths and value of time.
* Weresometimes used to instruct children in values.

3. Illustrated Novel, Digi-Fiction, Graphic Novel, Manga, Doodle Fiction, Text-Talk Novels, Chick
Lit or Chick Literature, Flash Fiction, Six-Word Flash Fiction, Creative Non-Ficyion, Science
Fiction, Blog, and Hyper Poetry.

4. The main characteristics of modern literature can be categorized into individualism, absurdity,
symbolism, and formality.

5. Traditional literature usually follows a strict set of rules in writing, whereas, modern literature
is freer, and sometimes, mixes different qualities of literary work to form a more creative and
innovative piece.

WHAT I CAN DO:

The Sun and the Moon have children who were the stars. Sun was close to stars, but whenever
he tries to embrace them, it end up being burned because of his hotness.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES:
1. Picture A is a Text-Talk Novel while Picture B is a Drama (tragedy).

2. Characterictics of the Text-Talk Novel include its length, limited number of characters, subject
matter, and tendency to begin in the middle of things while tragedies share certain
characteristics: Protagonist who are courageous and noble and must face significant internal or external
challenges. A heartbreaking ending that often leads to a catharsis for the audience
and gives them hope for mankind. Both are literary genres.
