INTRODUCTION
Film industry in world was first developed in United States around 90 years ago. From the good old days of Black &
White silent era the glitter and glamour of the silver screen have attracted youths into films and later on into
television industry as well. Film & Television industry both are getting organized day by day. Many Film Institutes
and school have been opened in different cities of world. India is one of the largest film producing countries in the
world. During 1950, government of India set up a file enquiry committee to survey the film scene in the country
and submit a report. The committee stated that the Indian film industry has achieved remarkable growth since its
early beginning in 1913 and some of its films compared most favorably with the best in the world.
The Indian Media and Entertainment (M&E) industry has been one of the fastest growing in recent times; it stood
at INR 584 billion in 2008, a growth of 12.4% over the previous year. By 2013, the industry is projected to reach the
size of INR 1052 billion. Moreover, by expanding into new geographies and embracing multiple platforms, Indian
promoters are now attracting foreign media companies and investors too.
Film has emerged as one of the most influential art form of our age. As there are great books, now there are great
film. Film making is a complete team effort which involve many aspects.
NEED FOR THE PROJECT

Film & Television industry both are getting organized day by day. Many Film Institutes and school have been
opened in different cities of world. “FILM INSTITUTE” as described by its name is a multi functional complex. It
comprises of number of activities like acting studios, sound recording and music studios, indoor and outdoor sets,
etc. which makes it an elegant example of self contained and self-sufficient complex. Coimbatore is one of the
fastest growing cities of India and because of its beautiful scenic and near by hill stations. Film institute would be a
great hub for youth and the upcoming industry and would provide more career options to the people.

The city is often referred to as the “Manchester of South India”. The city is surrounded by Western Ghats.

Coimbatore District is itself one of the most preferable Shooting spot for both armature and mature
Directors. It is a fact that places like Pollachi , Sathyamangalam , Ooty , are serving as excellent locations
for decades.

The site is exactly located within the Coimbatore city limits and easy to access. The site is surrounded by more
functionality spaces like institutes , commercial, hospital etc.

AIM & OBJECTIVE :
Devising a film institute that activates it physically, functionally, and socially to promote all aspects of the film, video,
audio, animation and performing arts media and to foster education and awareness among students and the community.
•To encourage interest in and study of films as a form of art and as a medium of information and education.

•To promote the development of film and television aesthetics related to Children audience and the new vision of
Edutainment.

•To create awakening and promote new, deserving talent in respective fields of film art.

•To revive and propagate the Indian culture in general.

•To provide the platform for holding seminars, workshops, exhibitions, meaningful lectures, to undertake the publications
of work concerned directly for the advancement of Indian aesthetics in music dance and drama.

•To encourage and facilitate co-operation and information exchange among private sector organizations, community
groups and individuals involved in children`s theatre, films and television activities in the highlands.

SCOPE :
-Each and every element within the building will add functional value to the spaces.
-The scope of the project includes more functional space within the building itself.
-Being a Hotspot, the site will attract lots of developments around the site also.
-It will add more interaction between institution and peoples.
-The open, semi-open and enclosed spaces are organized in such a way that it creates a perfect ambience for the studio
and creative people to work in and around the campus with nature

LIMITATIONS :
The thesis will cover only the designing and planning of institutional area which includes different departments, computer
labs, acting halls, auditorium, conference hall, film and text library, cafeteria, indoor and outdoor sets, etc. The thesis will
offer the architectural details only and not the technical engineering details.

ECO RESORT, POLLACHI

AIM:
To study about eco-resorts, which responds to the climatic and energy consumption issues raised by the present
day architecture through eco-sensitive design strategies.
OBJECTIVE:
The main objectives of ECO RESORT design study is to reduce, or completely avoid, depletion of critical
resources like energy, water and raw materials; prevent environmental degradation caused by facilities and
infrastructure throughout their life cycle; and create built environments that are comfortable, safe, and
productive. Buildings use resources (energy, water, raw materials, and etc.), generate waste (occupant,
construction and demolition), and emit potentially harmful atmospheric emissions so the main objective is to
create building design which is accessible, secure, healthy, and productive while minimizing any negative
impacts on society, it should result in net-positive benefits to all the areas.
JUSTIFICATION
This sector has a great potentiality to generate foreign revenue, which can bring about immediate socio-
economic benefit from small investments.
Tourism plays an important to upgrade local as well as national economy so resort proposed is commercially
acceptable. The creation of unique resort in a built form will be the landmark.

INTRODUCTION :
In a society of accelerating social economic and technological change .A complex and sophisticated
urban pattern is bound to evolve. These changes have maximized the pressure acting upon land to
meet the varied demands of the society. Since land is very valuable its proper use is extremely
important and provision should be made for a place within the framework of the city, which was not
only complex in planning but also offered all services under one roof along with parking facilities.

NEED OF SOCIO CULTURE CENTRE:-

•Need for public space where citizens can watch or do culture in there own neighborhood
•Need for people dedicated and/or trained for catering for the cultural needs of the citizens.
•The role of culture lies not only in the context of promotion of economic growth but also in relation to
other objectives of creating an environment that encourages self-expression and exploration on the
part of individuals and communities besides support to arts and artists and encouraging active
participation in cultural expression by people at large, and developing creativity as a social force.
