Implementation on
Modular Distance
learning in Public
School.
INTRODUCTION
Distance learning will be a major components of learning delivery for the
incoming school year. The physical opening of schools will depend on the risk severity
grading or classification of a locality, pursuant to guidelines of the Department of Health
or Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases. The schools under the
supervision of the Regional and Division Officers, are authorized to decide on the
specific delivery modalities, (Faraday,2008).
“One must know how to adjust to the changes and that despite the many uncertainties,
teacher and parents must turn them into opportunities that will help in continue
achieving the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 4, which is “quality
education” even amidst the pandemic” (Socular,2019)
In America, modules are increasingly being used in many countries as a way of
organizing a curriculum. As a consequence, many course books are now structured on
the basis of “modules” rather than “units”, and most teachers, when faced with this
innovation, wonder whether this is reality a new development, opening up new paths for
learning and teaching, or whether it might not just be old wine in new bottles (Jordan,
2005).
One of the challenges in education today is managing the capacity to produce
learning that meets all of the learning needs. The struggle to create a wide variety of
effective learning materials that cater to a broad range of needs for different
departments, roles, and competencies can be a daunting and extremely costly
endeavor in this trying times (Okeke,2014).
As a matter of fact, citing results from the Learner Enrollment and Survey Forms
(LESF) gathered nationwide, DepEd said that 8.8 million parents preferred modular for
their children both in public and private schools, Modular modality refers to both printed
and digital or offline learning materials. Most parents are not certified educators. Even
those who are educators, know that there are struggles when teaching their own kids
specially if they have children with different grade level with different needs of learning
assistance brought by modular learning. This modality puts pressure on the parents,
especially in the case of an asynchronous learning environment (Department of
Education,2020).
Individualized instruction in modular distance learning is useful in remote areas
with limited internet access such as mountains. Learner use self-learning modules in
print or digital format. They may need home visits by teachers for learner’s remediation
or assistance. If it is workable, students could reach their teacher via email, telephone.
text message or instant messaging. Mothers with kids from kindergarten to grade 6
worry that they might spend less time in their vegetable farms. To add, parents in this
level cannot help their children on the activities in the modules for they too have no
capacity in dealing such because of their educational background (International Institute
for Educational Planning, 2020).
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
What are the experiences parents with multiple learners in modular distance learning?
Do the learners build up a good quality of education?
SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY
This study aims to assess the students new normal on what student’s effects of modular
distance learning in public school. It will give meaningful for the betterment of our
education. The result on this study will bring awareness among every individual
particularly in public school students that they would be responsible with every positive
or negative thoughts they might done. This includes the probability of getting the answer
on what student’s effect modular ways of study. Thus, within an individual life the
capabilities.
