DENNIS SMITH, CANDIDATE FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL ANNOUNCES

SEX & LABOR TRAFFICKING TASK FORCE

Minneapolis – Dennis Smith, candidate for Minnesota Attorney General, today announced the creation of a sex and
labor trafficking task force.

“Our current Attorney General, Keith Ellison, has placed the epidemic of sex and labor trafficking in Minnesota in the
‘save for later’ file. Minnesota now ranks fourth in the United States for sex trafficking crimes. This is not a result of
COVID, it is a direct impact of intentional choices, by not supporting law enforcement and not making it a priority.
Innocent children have been lost to trafficking and when I’m Attorney General their rescue will be my top priority,” said
Smith.

Smith added, “I am both thrilled and honored that Representative Marion O’Neill has agreed to lead the task force to
work with State and Federal Law Enforcement to formulate an effective strategy to put traffickers behind bars and
rescue the victims.”

“It is important to note that Department of Public Safety Website has not been updated for the bi-annual Human
Trafficking in Minnesota report from 2020 and the calendar today says February 23, 2022 – this is certainly something
that could be completed remotely even during COVID with all of the technology the state of Minnesota currently has
available.”

The task force will include: Native American advocates, survivors of trafficking, non-profit organizations that restore
victims, legislators, prosecutors, and former law enforcement specializing in sex crimes, sex trafficking and labor
trafficking.

Smith concluded, “It is clearly time that Minnesota elected an Attorney General who works with law enforcement to
protect our young and innocent children and to quit making defunding the police a priority.”

Dennis Smith is a Republican candidate for Attorney General. Dennis served two terms as State Representative for
Maple Grove and Osseo from 2015-2019. Over his tenure, he received numerous legislative awards for his zealous
protection of consumer rights, Minnesota businesses and the environment. He was known for his diligence,
bridgebuilding, fairness and dedication to liberty and freedom.
