end user requirements, organization’s IT resource management and security and trends
in IT.

CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Kabarak University has a 4-year honours degree where the 3rd year is the "attachment"
year - ie, the student is required to spend 3 months at a relevant (to the course)
'stakeholder' company. Industrial attachment is a prescribed period of hands on work
experience in a relevant industrial setting.
The industrial attachment is meant to provide practical skills to students and for them to
appreciate the work in the industry before being fully employed after completing their
studies. By going through this phase the industrial attachment period equips the student
with handy realistic practical skills. This means in the field there are quick to exert this
expertise on any task. Lesser skills training time is needed to equip such persons. This
means our graduate students are well prepared for the industry when they finish their
studies.

CHAPTER 2
OBJECTIVES
The objectives for industrial attachment of students pursuing Bachelor of science in
Computer Science can be stated as follows:

opportunities as well as threats to them.
3. To afford students the opportunity to test their theoretical tools and constructs
learnt during their first two years of the degree programme with the realities of
running business organisations in Zimbabwe.
4. To enable the students to develop realistic expectations with respect to the
world of work, the role of being employees and, to experience what it takes to
work with others, as well as to work within a generally structured environment
in authority, responsibility and role terms.

2. Company History
In 1998, a bold ambitious team of two first launched Bankers’ Realm 2000 into the
world. Having received unprecedented accolades for the product, it quickly developed
into a core banking application (Bankers Realm – BR), which was further advanced to
include microfinance (Bankers Realm Microfinance – BR MFS) in its functionality. As
the origin of Craft Silicon, this marked the creation of our first commendable offerings,
while the former went on to become our trail-blazing, flagship product.
Seizing this new opportunity, we ventured into potential global markets, offering a range
of financial solutions like web-based platforms and BR Islamic included amongst our BR

With consistent growth over the years, we have thrived and gradually expanded our
employee base to over 100 at our Head Office in Nairobi; 100 who work out of our
Development and Research Center base in Bangalore, south India; not to forget the
dynamic teams at our partner offices in the U.S and Nigeria.
Ours is a high-tech campus, with centers engaged in state-of-the-art software
