PROPOSAL
LEADER: VICXIE FAE CUPATAN
MEMBERS: RJ MABITASAN DANNY BOY LACHICA JL CARINO JOHN CARLO BERGONIO
TEACHER: OILEGOR GABATIN VILLARTA
PROJECT TITLE: TEENAGE PREGNANCY SOCIAL INEQUALITY PROBLEM: EXTREME POVERTY,UNABLE TO FINISH SCHOOL
RATIONALE:
Teen pregnancy is a health issue that has an
effect on all of us. A child having a baby as a teenager is more likely to face critical social issues like poverty, poor education, risky behaviors that lead to poor health issues, and child welfare. Teenage pregnancy affects 5.99 percent of Filipino girls which is the second highest rate in Southeast Asia based on Save the Children’s Global Childhood Report (2019). An estimated 538 babies are born to Filipino teenage mothers every single day, according to Philippine Statistical Authority. Teenage pregnancy is pregnancy in a woman 19 years of age or younger. A woman can get pregnant if she has vaginal sex with a man at any age after she's begun having regular monthly periods. Adolescent pregnancies are a global problem but occur most often in poorer and marginalised communities. Many girls face considerable pressure to marry early and become mothers while they are still a child. OBJECTIVES:
Initially to prevent unwanted pregnancy;
now, to promote health education. Target Group: 15-20, both sexes and now younger age groups and parents. Activities: Through group dynamics work and role play, students learn to enhance their self-esteem, make decisions, communicate effectively and be assertive. The study was the capricorn district which is central to the entire districts and it has urban, semi-urban and rural e the extensive attention given to adolescent sexuality and teenage pregnancy in the past 30 years, many teenagers were still nt (van eijk 2007). Teenage pregnancy has become a national epidemic, partly because more and more teenagers who give birth decide to raise their children. That teenage pregnancy is more common amongst young people who have been disadvantaged and have poor expectations of either ion or the job market. Premature sexual intercourse results in high rates of sexually transmitted diseases, hiv transmission, adolescent pregnancy ons (mkhwanazi 2006). Unprotected sexual intercourse can lead to an unwanted adolescent pregnancy which is often considered a serious social and public health ers have a high risk of unintended pregnancy (mestad et al. Richter and mlambo (2005) said teenage pregnancy appears to aged by lack of access to sex education. Some parents are reluctant to make sex education and contraceptives available to their teenagers,As they are afraid that their teenagers might interpret this as permission to engage in sexual activities.
PROPOSE SOLUTION:
The solution to teen pregnancy is a
multifaceted approach that involves the family, school, church and friends. We must change the mindset that Teens think having a baby is Cool. The basic solution is education and application. The parent or parents must play an active role helping teens form a personal image of who they want to be. Not just for now, but for the rest of their lives. Both young men and women need to understand the long term ramifications of how pregnancy effects your life and most importantly the life of a new born baby. As a teen you are not ready to assume the role of parenthood. This means you young men too. You cannot walk away from getting a young teen pregnant. Raising a child is parenting from both sides.
ACTION PLAN:
We are committed to tackling
adolescent pregnancy, especially among younger adolescents (aged 10-14) who are most at risk and yet often overlooked. We also support girls who have already become mothers. By raising girls’ awareness of their sexual and reproductive health and rights, protecting them from abuse and connecting them with education and health services, we support the key decisions they make about their futures and bodies. We call on governments to strengthen national health systems, implement comprehensive education on sexuality and relationships in and out of schools, and provide affordable, safe contraception to tackle the root causes of adolescent pregnancy. We also demand governments do more to support pregnant girls and young mothers to continue and complete their education. THANK YOU FOR READING MY PROJECT PROPOSAL!
