    PERSONAL STATEMENT FOR MASTERS IN APPLIED DATA SCIENCE

    I am applying to study Masters of Applied Data Science offered at Teesside University to drive my career growth in
    Data Science. With my current experience as an Operations Lead in a reputable Fintech company in my home
    country, I wish to expand my knowledge in Data Analytics and turn my focus towards global business decisions
    through data.

    With an increased need to measure, track, and record performance metrics for facilitating enterprise-wide
    enhanced decision making, companies use Data Science models to predict, simulate several actions and
    ultimately devise the path to reap the best business outcomes.

    I developed an interest in data when I wrote my first SQL query in 2017 and the insights I got made me become
    the go-to person for local key decisions in the company in the first year and global decisions afterwards.

    I hope to be able to use the knowledge I will acquire from this Masters program in Applied Data Science to make
    more meaningful contributions globally.

    I have worked and currently work in data-driven companies that monitor and track every single decision they make
    - from the idea to the implementation and monitoring. While my previous role focused on manually checking
    patterns in a few customers and using those patterns to check a larger customer base in order to determine
    credibility, my current role takes a more automated approach by leveraging several automated tools to make key
    business decisions. I am currently building out two innovative ideas and the MVPs should go live within the next 5
    months and I hope to use and apply the learnings to provide well-supported insights for companies.

    This program will set me up for success by training me in skipping very manual checks and handling/analysing raw
    data to present useful insights for predicting business problems and recommending business solutions.

    I am a kind person, who is also passionate about whatever I do and also have a team spirit to carry others along.
    My cross-cultural experience in Anthropology has equipped me to adapt successfully in any environment. I am
    always eager to know about new things or ways in which things can be done better and I love to influence others in
    the best and most positive ways possible.

    I am certain the knowledge and skills learnt from my professional experience, university and extracurricular
    activities would make me a valuable addition to the Masters in Applied Data Science program offered at Teesside
    University especially as Africa (and the world at large) is on the verge of new technological advancement, and this
    positions me strategically to be at the lead of driving the change required through data.

    Thanks as I look forward to this great opportunity. I will be glad to make myself available anytime to discuss more
    of my potentials and the impact this program will make in my life.
