History of Indie Pop
Music in the Philippines:

Indie pop (also typeset as indie-pop or indiepop) is a

music genre and subculture that combines guitar pop with
DIY ethic in opposition to the style and tone of
mainstream pop music. It originated from British post-
punk in the late 1970s and subsequently generated a
thriving fanzine, label, and club and gig circuit.

Although Filipino indie is heavily influenced by styles from

Europe and the United States, these songs are always
mixed with local sounds and tell stories more relatable to
the people from the country. Some talk about what it's like
to live by the sea, or more serious topics like the drug war.
