Precautions for Using the Tape Feeder Safely

1. Follow the instructions described under the section “Daily Inspections” to inspect and clean the tape
feeder periodically.
2. The tape feeder is a precision device. Never store it with piling it up with other devices
3. Follow the instructions described in the section “How to Use the Tape Feeder” to replace a tape with
another one.
4. Carry the tape feeder with both hands.
5. When replacing a tape with another one, do not carry the tape feeder with its upper cover open or do not
make any impact on the tape feeder.
6. If you happen to make any impact on or apply impossible load to the tape feeder by mistake, check the
electrical component supply position. If there is any problem, contact our service engineer in charge.
7. Before attaching the tape feeder onto the main unit or a feeder exchange trolley, check to see if any
foreign substance such as a chip is not stuck to the tape feeder. (Especially if a chip is stuck around the
component pick-up position on the tape travel path or any tooth of the sprocket wheel, it may cause the
electrical component supply position error.)
8. After attaching the tape feeder onto the main unit or a feeder exchange trolley, check to see if the tape
feeder is set correctly.
9. When attaching or removing the tape feeder onto/from the main unit or a feeder exchange trolley, do not
make any shock on the tape feeder.
10. When attaching the tape feeder onto the main unit or a feeder exchange trolley, check to see if there is
no foreign substance such as a chip on the feeder bank.
11. When attaching or removing the tape feeder onto/from the main unit or a feeder exchange trolley, do not
apply any excessive force to the feeder in the horizontal direction.
12. When you move the tape feeder even though it is attached on a feeder exchange trolley, vibration and/or
impact caused with movement may cause a component pick-up error when it is attached on the mounter
and starts PWB production. Before PWB production starts after the tape feeder is moved with attached
on a feeder exchange trolley, remove the tape feeder from the feeder bank, and then attach it on the
bank again.
13. If any excessive force is applied to the tape feeder fixed on the feeder bank, it may cause a component
pick-up error during PWB production. Therefore, remove the tape feeder from the feeder bank, and
then attach it on the bank again.
14. Since the precision components are built into the tape feeder, do not remove the cover.
If the component-supply position accuracy changes, a service engineer has to adjust it.
