For my civic engagement activity I decided to do some volunteer work on April 5th, 2022,
well before the actual meeting some people from church and I decided to go to just serve
website for some volunteering opportunity and we chose to do some hygiene kits for the
people of Ukraine, especially for those that lost everything with this war going on there, our
goal was to get fifty kits put together, we started to ask for donations and we got much more
than we were expecting and we donate some as well, we had enough to put together 132 kits.
We made this opportunity as an activity on the LDS church that I go to assemble the
donations and build the kits, It took us almost two hours to organize and put the kits together,
I was responsible for getting some decoration ready for the activity and to separate all the
items before the other people get there. We had around 15 people coming to help; I was

How did the event or volunteer service connect with the topic you chose? (Make

Helping people that are going through a war has been done before on world war one and
world war two and on every war before and after that, people have compassion, those that
have more or are in a better place tend to help those in need especially in a war where there is
children, pregnant women, elderly people that are fragile and need help, helping with the
hygiene kits was a way to comfort them, helping them to feel clean, human, worthy and
loved.

It did make me feel more responsible thinking on how blessed I’m for be living in USA
in a beautiful place, away from any war and thankful for the veterans that had fought for our
freedom and for those still serving the military today, keeping us safe. To use my freedom to
Did you enjoy this experience and would you do it again? Why or why not?
I did enjoy the experience, it made me feel humble and thankful for the things that I have
and happy to be able to help people in need, I would definitely do it again if I have the
opportunity to do so. Also I realize that I don’t need to wait for a war to help people, I can
help and volunteer on my own community, which I will look for ways to do so.
